How do you rejuvenate Violets at home? In my opinion the best and easiest way to do this. Step-by-step instruction
Usambara violets are one of the most popular house flowers. Many are familiar with the situation when, 2-3 years after planting, the stem of the violet stretches out and becomes bare, the plant loses its decorative effect.
I am talking about the method of rejuvenating violets, which, in my opinion, is the best: rooting the top of the flower. The method is easy, the plants take root in 95%, after 2-3 months the bushes begin to form buds.
Preparatory activities
Before you start rejuvenating flowers, prepare everything you need to work:
· Small in size, low plastic or ceramic pots;
· Expanded clay, which will be used as drainage;
· Ready-made "Soil for Saintpaulias" or a fertile soil mixture of humus, peat and vermiculite (sand) in equal proportions;
· A disinfected sharp knife or blade;
· Growth stimulator "Kornevin".
The rooting agent should be used when transplanting violets in autumn or winter, in spring and summer you can do without it.
Sequencing
I start rejuvenating a flower when its bare stem becomes longer than 2-2.5 cm. Sometimes I carry out the procedure earlier if the soil in the pot is compacted or a whitish coating appears on the surface of the soil.
Step-by-step instructions for rejuvenating the top of the plant:
· Remove flowers, buds and wilted inflorescences from the bush;
· Remove the violet from the pot, clean the old soil from the root system, slightly shorten too long roots;
· Tear off all the lower leaves, leaving no more than 6-8 pieces. (it will be difficult for a plant without roots to feed a large crown);
· Clean the bare stem from films, cuttings fragments;
Cut off the root system with a clean sharp knife, leaving a stump 1 cm long;
· Keep the top in the air for 40-60 minutes, so that the cut is windy and slightly tightened;
Put a layer of expanded clay 1-2 cm on the bottom of the pot, fill the container for planting with the prepared substrate, moisten it;
· Dust the cut site with Kornevin powder and place it in the soil, deepening by 5-7 mm.
To create greenhouse conditions above the plant, build a mini-greenhouse from a regular plastic bag and supports. Ventilate the shelter daily to prevent the development of gray rot.
Another secret: For better rooting, add a little Kornevin to the water for irrigation.
Advantages of the method: the plants take root practically without losses, after 60-70 days they actively begin to increase the leaf mass and push out the buds.
When propagated by a leaf, some varieties can change the color of the petals. By rejuvenating violets by rooting the top, you will do without unpleasant surprises.
