I checked three popular ways to clean the mixer from limescale: which improvised tool will do the best

Limescale is probably the most annoying part of cleaning your home. Hard water constantly leaves drip marks on the faucets and turns into hard deposits on the tap strainers.

Usually I wash plumbing with well-known chemical products from the store, but they can only do soap and lime stains. Alas, they cannot cope with the task more difficult.

I checked three popular ways to clean the mixer from limescale: which improvised tool will do the best

Then I decided to look for proven methods on the Internet. I found many different life hacks, and decided to try a few of them.

There are ingredients for removing limescale in every home:

· Baking soda;

Vinegar 9%;

· Lemon acid;

· Water;

· Sponge / cloth / toothbrush / gloves.

Test 1

It is necessary to dilute the vinegar with water, and add soda. Pour this solution into a plastic bag and tie it to the mixer so that it is immersed in the liquid. Leave on for 5-7 hours. Remove the bag and wash off the plaque with a damp soapy sponge.

Outcome

1. Soda with dilute acetic acid gives a very violent reaction. The mixture is bubbling and a lot of foam forms. Such a large-scale extinguishing of soda scared me, and the foam also poured onto the table and floor.

2. After all the steps according to the instructions, the result is not very impressive. Part of the hard limescale is gone, and part remains unchanged.

Test 2

Get baking soda and a toothbrush. Use a damp brush to collect soda and clean the strainer in the tap and the mixer itself.

Outcome

Lime deposits have disappeared by 50%.

The score is 5 out of 10, respectively.

Test 3

Dilute citric acid with water. Moisten a sponge in it and wipe the mixer thoroughly. Then wipe with a clean, damp sponge.

Outcome

The solution easily copes with light limescale. Life hack does not cope with old deposits at all.

Important! Handle dilute acids with gloves. In order not to irritate the skin of the hands and not get burned.

It was interesting to check the tips from the vastness of the Internet. As it turned out in my experience, these life hacks were undeservedly overrated.
