I heat the house with air conditioning: for the entire heating season I paid only 8,000 rubles

Hello everyone! I recommend reading this article to people who live or dream of living in their own home, and who have chosen electricity as a source of heat. I consider electricity a reasonable alternative to natural gas, at least that the cost of connecting to the coveted yellow pipe in Russia can reach 700,000 rubles, and to electricity - 1,800 rubles ...

Our log house with a total area of 100 square meters has been heated by air conditioning since the fall of this year, which means that we can already sum up some results. But first I will explain why we are heated with air conditioning.

Air conditioner, refrigerator and heat pump - all these three devices work on the same principle - they transfer heat (cold) from one environment to another. And if you think that it is cold outside in winter and there is nowhere to take heat, then this is a subjective opinion. From the point of view of physics, any temperature above absolute zero (−273.15 ° C) is a heat carrier.

I continue the thought, I will not languish for a long time. The air conditioner has two units: internal and external. That is why, by the way, it is often called a split system,

"split" from English - "break", "break". The outer part of our air conditioner has a double-circuit radiator made of copper pipes, into which gas is pumped - freon of the r-410a variety.

In the cold, freon is compressed by the compressor and... heats up - that is, it takes heat from the street (remember the postulate about -273.15 ° C). Further, warm freon is directed inside the room by the same compressor. There it is blown by the simplest fans of the indoor unit, supplying heat to the house.

You are probably wondering why in November - February we paid so little for heating one hundred squares, only 8 thousand rubles.. I explain: in an air conditioner, electricity is not spent on direct heating of a heating element or air (as in radiators, convectors), and FOR PUMPING FREON and blowing off the tubes.

If we look at the technical characteristics of my air conditioner, we will see that it produces 3.84 kW of heat per 1 kW of electricity. Almost 4 times more than electricity was spent.

See parameter COP heating

For a long time I doubted whether it was worth trusting these figures, but when in the first frosty month instead of 6 thousand we paid 1600 rubles for heating, everything fell into place. November 2020 became almost 4 times cheaper than November 2019.

Preventing the negative in the comments, I will say that not all air conditioners work for heating. My model is quite expensive, it costs 59,100 (it is designed for 60 square meters, less area - cheaper and the price), but in one heating season it has already paid for itself with interest. Further - savings.

I conduct all the accounting of the consumed electricity through the Robiton PM-2 socket wattmeter. It simply plugs into the outlet BEFORE the air conditioner plug and counts every kilowatt * hour that has passed through it.

The photo below shows that 1.1 kW of electricity is spent on heating, while 1.1 * 3.84 kW is given out for heat.
1149 - a watt is spent, 2141 - the number of kWh spent (cost 3.6 rubles)

I leave in the comments your place for questions: how to choose an air conditioner, where and how to hang the indoor unit, which manufacturers to choose.
