Plastic snow - why are snowballs on the Internet and why are they very surprised
Hello dear subscribers and guests of my channel. Just a few days ago, a couple of my acquaintances sent a video (as I later realized it was very popular), in which they burn a snowball and are very surprised that it turns black and does not melt. And this fact is presented as another confirmation of the "bad" ecology and almost the coming of the end of the world.
In this article, I will tell you what is really going on and explain why it is better not to miss school physics lessons.
How it all began or miracles - this is a banal ignorance of physics
So, before explaining everything calmly, I want to say about the general psychosis and amazing illiteracy, as well as the lack of critical thinking in a very large number of people on the Internet.
A video with another "amazing" video was sent to me on Telegram with the comment: "Look, what's going on with us!"
I honestly watched it (video) from beginning to end, where a certain person first collects fresh snow in his yard, makes a tight ball out of it, and then using a gas burner for a minute, unsuccessfully tries it (snowball) melt. Naturally, he does not succeed and he, about horror, observes how dark soot forms on the dense snow.
From everything he saw, the man concludes that over the Krasnodar Territory (yes, the video was recorded in the south of our country), some kind of chemical snow fell.
I was not lazy and found the original of this video on the popular Tik-Tok network among young people and even read the comments from whom I learned that it turns out that such "snow" has fallen over many cities of our country and how everything is so dirty here and bad.
It is immediately clear that most of the commentators either skipped school, or forgot everything completely, or they want to believe in various conspiracy theories and the like.
A banal explanation of the "phenomenon"
Everything is outrageously simple. Compressed snow has excellent thermal conductivity, and if you set it on fire from one side, then the heat will be distributed throughout the volume. And since the snow perfectly absorbs water, at first no drops will fall on the floor, and the resulting moisture will simply evaporate.
And with carbon deposits it's still easier. In the process of burning gas (we are now considering a specific case with a gas heater or lighter), combustion products inevitably remain, which are deposited in the form of soot. Moreover, they will settle on any surface, be it snow, a piece of steel or concrete.
This is how the phenomenon of non-melting snow in the Krasnodar Territory is simply explained. Study physics, otherwise many physical processes for you will look like manifestations of something unusual and mystical.
Well, if you liked the material, then rate it. This will help in the advancement of the material and, possibly, push someone to study the amazing world from a scientific point of view. Take care of yourself!
