Glasses or lenses: my opinion on the benefits of vision aids
Quite recently, I had vision problems, a serious question arose, to which there was no answer, what is better to choose - glasses or lenses. I began to rummage through the Internet, in search of the right answer. Here's what I found out.
Points - advantages and disadvantages
Since it is about vision, you need to consider the pros and cons of glasses. Choosing glasses, I get the following benefits:
- I will wear them for a long time until they need to be corrected.
- I am a careful person, so that the frame will not break.
- I can choose the frame at my discretion, I don't need an expensive one, the main thing is to be comfortable.
- You don't need to wash your hands all the time to put on your glasses.
- In windy weather, the eyes are protected from dust; dust particles that enter will not cause much irritation and inflammation.
Not so long ago, a man with glasses was ranked among the intelligentsia, isn't it funny?
What are the disadvantages of glasses:
- They do not provide 100% correction, especially when the vision in the eyes is different. It's good that I have the same.
- When their cold turns into warmth, the lenses in my glasses sweat, so for some time I will have to remain "blind". But I was offered a special hydrophobic coating when ordering glasses, it's good that it fit.
- I am no longer an athlete, but even while working in the garden, when I have to do something in an incline, my glasses fall off. They offered some kind of fixing device, but I refused it.
Contact lenses - pros and cons
Some people who have swapped glasses for contact lenses do not want to go back to rimmed devices. I also wanted to know what is good or bad about contact lenses. Maybe I'll change my glasses over time.
What can I get if I decide on contact lenses:
- The diopters of each lens can be easily changed to provide 100% correction.
- The lenses have a wider view, since the frame does not interfere.
- There will be no distortion of objects, as it happens with glasses.
- You can choose the color of the lenses yourself.
- Do not interfere with active recreation, sports, do not create inconvenience in any weather.
Having seen how much better contact lenses are than glasses, I was already thinking about purchasing them, but I was stopped by the shortcomings:
- Special care. If the contents of the lenses are broken, eye problems may occur.
- To remove or put on lenses, hands should be washed with antibacterial soap. And this is problematic if, for example, a speck gets into the eye during a walk. How to remove the lens if your hands are dirty?
- If you do not follow the wearing regime, then eye problems appear.
- The lenses need to be changed frequently, and the solution and tweezers need to be renewed every month. And all taken together is an expensive pleasure.
- If there is an inflammatory process in the eyes, it is not recommended to wear lenses.
Each person decides to choose glasses or contact lenses independently. No ophthalmologist will insist, he has the right to recommend. I decided for myself that I am still wearing my usual glasses.
What did you choose when your vision began to sink?
