Why is it necessary to mount lintels over window and door openings, what they are made of and how they are laid

During the construction of the house, I used various building materials. I built the basement from reinforced concrete blocks, and the walls from white silicate bricks.

Over the formed openings of windows and doors, I mounted lintels. These are special structures that are made in the factory from concrete and reinforcement (wire can also be used).

Their function is to distribute the load that will be applied to window and door openings during the operation of the house.

The process of laying the jumpers provides for the observance of a certain sequence of actions:

• Initially, I prepared all window and door openings, if they did not fit the size of the lintels, sawed off the bricks and foundation blocks with a grinder.

• The next step was the production of a concrete solution, for which the installation of lintels was planned.

• I distributed a small amount of cement mortar evenly over the surface of the bricks in each opening.

• Further, with the help of a crane, the jumper was laid. Since reinforced concrete structures are heavy, I had to use construction lifting equipment. Thanks to the crane and the preparation of the openings in advance, I was able to install lintels around the entire perimeter of each floor in a few hours.

• After installation, using a level, I checked how correct the installation was.

Within 3-4 days, the solution hardened, after which I continued to make brickwork.
