Don't you grow soy yet? I recommend. This is a great grain and vegetable crop with a protein content of up to 45 percent!

This is a unique crop of various uses, due to the chemical properties of its seeds. Suffice it to say that they contain up to 32 - 45 percent complete protein, balanced in amino acids, 17 percent fat and more than 20 percent carbohydrates (sugar, starch). Soy also contains vitamins C, B and E.

Soy is recommended as a dietary food for diabetics. The main soy protein, glycine, is capable of curdling (curdling) during acidification, and therefore it is possible to prepare milk, cottage cheese, butter, very similar in taste and composition to cow's in taste and composition.

This crop can be grown in all soil and climatic zones of Russia, and it is not difficult to grow a small amount of grain and green mass in the garden. And all the more surprising is the fact that soybeans are grown by a few.

Varieties

Soy is a grain crop. Just 8-10 years ago, a little more than 10 varieties of soybeans were grown in Russia. To have a good grain yield, it is necessary to adhere to the recommendations of the register for the selection of varieties for a particular soil and climatic zone.

In the steppe, forest-steppe and Polesie, it is recommended to grow the following varieties: Sawer, Phaeton, Kharkiv grain-feed, Yug-30.

Agate, Amethyst, Snow White, Medea, Solnechnaya, Stein, Khadzhibey are doing well in central Russia.

In addition to those listed, varieties imported from other countries are often sown in vegetable gardens.

Soy is a self-pollinated crop and can retain varietal characteristics for a long time, that is, remain with the same yield and grain quality.

On the Internet, you can find information about the existence of special varieties of coffee soybeans. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that such a culture, this kind of soybeans does not exist in nature. This is a fiction of modern businessmen who want to rip off big money on the ignorance of gullible people. Indeed, there are varieties of soybeans with brown grains that look like coffee beans, but they have nothing to do with coffee. This grain is used in the same way as white or cream-colored soybeans.

Agrotechnics

Soy is a heat-loving plant, the seeds of which germinate at + 8-10 °, and the best temperature for its growth is + 18-25 °. From germination to grain ripening (growing season) it takes from 100 to 160 days. This crop is also demanding on moisture, both in the air and in the soil. Therefore, it is highly desirable to provide for watering. It is not advisable to place beds with soybeans in acidic, highly saline and swampy areas.

For digging the soil in the fall or spring, apply 50-80 kg of humus or compost per 10 square meters. m. If there are no organic fertilizers, you can give 200-300 g of urea or ammonium nitrate, 150 g of phosphorus and 200 g of potassium fertilizers.
