How and how exactly to nourish tomato seeds (soak) before planting seedlings in order to increase germination. Even stale
Flaming fireworks, fellow gardeners! Today on the agenda is a strategically important task: to prepare tomato seeds before sowing. I offer a recipe that will disinfect seeds and increase germination. And a special procedure will ensure maximum results in a short time.
Step 1: exposure to warm water
It is in it that tomato seeds are soaked for 20 minutes. The easiest way is to empty the contents of the sachet into a glass with warm water. Cover the glass with a lid to allow the water to cool more slowly.
If you add 1 more teaspoon of salt, at the same time, dummies will appear on the surface, which have no place in our history. Cull only after 20 minutes, because at first, dry seeds sometimes float. Quite viable.
Step 2: preparing the solution
Comrade - time is priceless. While the seeds are steaming in the bath, prepare a "stimulator" from hydrogen peroxide (3%). Pour 1 teaspoon of peroxide into 250 ml of water (faceted glass to the brim) at room temperature and mix well.
Peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent. It will disinfect the seeds from all kinds of fungi and produce the effect of easy stress, after which even the tightest seeds will wake up a craving for life.
Step 3: soak
Thoroughly soak cotton pads in a peroxide solution. Making a sandwich:
- 2 discs on the bottom;
- tomato seeds;
- 2 discs on top.
We will use 2 pieces to avoid drying out and increase the volume of the working solution that comes into contact with the seeds. We put it in a plastic container under the lid so that the cotton pads do not dry out.
Fresh seeds take 6-8 hours to swell. Others need 24 hours. Immediately after the procedure, you can start sowing tomatoes in the usual way.
