What to do with pepper seedlings after germination, how to feed weak sprouts
After your peppers have risen, you need to do some activities with them if they sit in one place for a long time. How to accelerate the development of seedlings?
How to speed up the development of pepper
In the first 10-14 days after germination, the peppers build up the root system. Therefore, they grow slowly in height. To increase the rate of root development, the following solution can be made.
You need to take 1 tbsp. a spoonful of granulated sugar and dilute it in a liter of warm water. Then you need to shed the plants with them.
You can also feed the seedlings with any phosphorus fertilizer, which will accelerate the development of the root system.
Lack of warmth and light
It often happens that pepper seedlings grow poorly due to the cool temperatures on the windowsill. If the cold comes from the windows from below, the roots in such soil will not develop.
Therefore, it is necessary to put foam plastic or old books under the containers, set containers with plants farther from the glass and closer to the batteries. This will provide some protection from cold air. The temperature during the day should not be lower than + 20– + 23 degrees. And at night + 15– + 20 degrees. Pepper tolerates slight temperature fluctuations.
In February, the peppers may not have enough light, so lighting will be required, or the seedlings should be placed on the windowsills on the south side.
Watering features
Pepper seedlings do not need to be poured. It grows poorly when wet, so moisture should be moderate. Watering should be carried out as the soil dries up. After each moistening, the soil should be slightly loosened (you can use a regular fork).
What else can you feed pepper seedlings
10-12 days after germination, peppers can be fertilized with 10 grams of ammonium nitrate, 40 grams of superphosphate, 20 grams of potassium sulfate per 10 liters of water. You can use any complex mineral fertilizer for seedlings or organic fertilizer based on vermicompost "Ideal".
You do not need to overfeed the peppers, it is enough to fertilize them 2-3 times from germination to planting in the ground in a permanent place. The last feeding is carried out a week before transshipment to the garden.
Foliar top dressing can also be done. This will require 2 drops of "Epin", 2 drops of "Zircon" in 1 liter of warm water. All these components should be mixed, spray the seedlings with the resulting solution.
After this foliar application, the peppers will more easily survive the stress after transplanting. They will grow strong and healthy.
