An interesting way to prepare Gladioli bulbs for planting, thanks to which the flowers will grow many times more

Gladioli are flowers loved by many gardeners. But their cultivation does not always go as we would like. Sometimes there are problems with the bulbs, due to which little flowers emerge.

This is often the result of inadequate or inadequate preparation. I am sharing an interesting way to prevent these problems and get beautiful flowers in large quantities.

We inspect and clean

If you are going to plant bulbs that you harvested yourself, then they should be removed from a dry and dark storage place no earlier than 2-4 weeks before planting. If you buy bulbs, try to do it at about the same time.

Each onion must be peeled of dry upper scales. You also need to remove the remnants of the bottom. Then carefully inspect each onion after peeling.

They should be smooth, healthy-looking, free of any signs of disease, suspicious stains, and so on. They should not be rough or as if dry - such should not be planted, they are sick.

Stimulating the awakening of the growth bud

We spread selected, healthy corms with buds up in a cool (about 16-18 degrees), dry and light (but without access to direct sunlight) place. They must be put on something dry: on a wet one they will begin to germinate, now we do not need it at all!

Light treatment will stimulate the life processes in the bulb, after planting it will begin to grow faster and produce more abundant flowers. By the way, during this procedure, they will turn green - this is absolutely normal.

We disinfect and stimulate growth

A sad but confirmed fact: bulbous plants are quite susceptible to diseases. Fortunately, it is possible and necessary to fight this. In order to prevent diseases of gladioli, on the day of planting, it is necessary to soak the bulbs in a disinfecting solution.

I use ready-made fungicides from specialty stores, but a 1% solution of copper sulfate is also suitable - but manganese in this case will be weak and will work only if there is no alternative.

Soak the onions for 30 minutes. In principle, you can plant them now, but to make them grow better, we will also soak them in a growth stimulator. I like Kornevin's remedy - it is very budgetary compared to analogues and effective.

We act according to the instructions from the manufacturer, and then we plant the bulbs. Try it and see - there will be many times more flowers than before!
