Three types of homemade wooden clamps. Device and dimensions
Greetings.
Buying clamps can be more expensive than buying a machine. And yet, some types of clamps are easy to make with your own hands and they will serve no worse than factory ones.
Clamps for assembling and gluing panels
I have made several of these clamps at different times.
At first I was here such a construction.
At the base of this clamp, I used a pine block 35x45 mm with a section and a length of 650 mm.
They are convenient for gluing shields and other parts from 40 mm thick, and they are also well suited for assembling, for example, doors.
A pair of such clamps can be connected with pins through the side holes and get a long clamp.
The next were clamp clamps.
These clamps are also designed for gluing panels and assembling.
See the gallery for the device and dimensions.
Or the drawings can be download from the link.
I made the clamps more than a meter long and with this size it is convenient to use them when assembling.
And one more clamps were made specifically for gluing thin shields.
In them, the clamping screw is located close to the base, which allows you to clamp thin shields without distortions
When making these clamps, I used pine blocks for the base. 40x45x800 mm., and the rest of the details were made of birch.

Manual carpentry vice
These are classic carpentry clamps
A strong grip can be obtained with such a clamp. If you look at how they work, you can see that the front screw compresses the workpieces, and the rear screw adds force through the lever, spreading the edges of the clamping bars.
These clamps are convenient for fixing parts for processing to the workbench.
Also, these clamps can be used to machine small parts on a milling or sawing machine, as well as to hold small parts when drilling holes.
When gluing the workpieces, these clamps also perform very well. They are convenient for gluing parts in thickness.
Clamps for pressure from above
I made these clamps when it became necessary to glue the cladding.
The clamp consists of two bars 45x40x800 mm. They are connected to each other by strips of plywood 15x50x200 mm. I made grooves in the bars and connected them to dowels 12 mm in diameter. (Scroll through the gallery)
Nuts are embedded in the upper bar from the inside of the bar. One in the middle and two at a distance of 150 mm. from the center.
The screw clamp is made of a threaded rod M10 with a length of 200 mm.
A lamb is just a piece of plywood, clamped by two nuts.
As a result
All of these clamps are in demand in my workshop and some have served for several years.
Most often I use clamps for assembling and gluing the shield. And the rest as needed.
