To get a generous potato crop, you must first select the right tubers and protect them from pests and diseases. Consider the basic rules when choosing a seed.

Tuber size

Potato tubers should be about the same size in order to get friendly shoots (in the future, the plants will be easier to care for). The weight of the tuber should be on average 30-50 grams, with a cut diameter of 3-4 cm. Smaller potatoes will yield a smaller crop. Large tubers are simply irrational to use when planting.

Germination and landscaping procedure

Germination gives an earlier harvest of potatoes. Basically, this technique is used on early crop varieties. Germination of medium and late varieties does not make sense.

Before laying for germination (usually for 25-30 days), the tubers are heated with simultaneous gardening at a temperature of + 20- + 25 degrees for 7 days. The optimum temperature for germination of tubers is + 8- + 14 degrees Celsius. Greening your potatoes a bit will help prevent many diseases in the future.

As a result of the reaction, gypsum precipitates, which, when processing the tubers, envelops them with a protective film, as if acidifying the potatoes. This prevents scab infestation.
