Difficult time for a septic tank in a private house. How does my sewage system work during the spring flood?

Friends, greetings to all. Those who follow my construction know that I built a septic tank last summer. And it was a big and difficult job.

Winter this year was real. And under a large layer of snow, the septic tank wintered wonderfully ...

But only recently, the opportunity has turned up for the present, to test the system "in battle".

At the moment I am engaged in experiments on water purification and organization of water supply in my house.

So a large amount of water appeared, which needs to be poured somewhere. Therefore, I organized the drain directly through the sewer pipes and into the septic tank.

For control, access to the hatches was freed, and a check was made.

What could be the problem?

This is what my septic tank system looks like.

The worst is here - this is a high level of groundwater, and poor absorbency of loam, under the filtration field.

Even in the summer, a problem emerged: when the pump pumps out a full chamber of water, it flows through the rubble, abutting against the loam, and does not have time to quickly be absorbed. Therefore, water began to flow back into the septic tank through the emergency drain. It turned out that I shouldn't have done it.

But you couldn't just shut him upotherwise there will be no ventilation between the septic tank and the filtration field. Therefore, I added an additional piece of pipe to the emergency drain, with an exit upward.

It turned out that if the filtration field overflows, then there is no overflow back into the septic tank. Only a temporary rise of water in this pipe, which gradually goes into loam.

At the same time, both ventilation and anti-emergency functions have been preserved.

But now, when all the snow is melting, the water table has risen very much.

And looking into the septic tank, I saw that the water in this pipe is constantly standing.

Those. the filtration field is already partially flooded.

✅ However, this does not prevent the large volume of water from draining from the septic tank chamber.

After I tried it, the same thing happened:

• The level in the pipe rose (though now it is almost to the edge), but then it also fell back.
• At the same time, the septic tank chambers are not poured from the outside, that is, there is tightness.

So everything works, even in such heavy (good that temporary) conditions.
