Useful homemade oil canister

Friends, I decided to use an olive oil canister. For a long time there was an idea to make a small and light box out of it for the most common tools, which is convenient to carry and with which it is convenient to walk.

It all started with sawing the canister with a grower around the entire perimeter so that a low lid was obtained and the main part was a box. It took to cut minutes 15. Then I had to sandpaper the edges and remove all burrs, after which it was necessary to twist on both parts along the edges with short yellow self-tapping screws 10 mm thin wooden slatsto add rigidity to the tin and increase safety by making the edges thicker.

Then he took up the awnings. I made markings for them and drilled holes. I did not fasten the awnings on the outside along the top of the canister, but brought it into the gap between the tin and the bar, which was planned in advance. It looks better and the box will stand smoother on the surface.

And now, it has already turned out to be such a casket. And then it was necessary to improvise with the locks. I will not talk about them in detail, since the channel already had an article about repairing a tool case, where I described in detail and showed

how to make locks from plastic bottle corks. In the box, they are made exactly like this. Also, details are shown in video below.

In this box, however, I used cognac corks, as they are more presentable and made of a harder and more durable material.

After the locks, it remained to find a suitable handle. With this I was lucky, because in the nightstand had long been a small metal, long-unused tea box, where there was a suitable handle. I just moved it to my box, making 4 holes for the fastening teeth.

The new box was tested for strength and convenience, and was a very different tool. In general, he showed himself from the best side. Although, if you shake it hard, then the instrument rattles a little on the walls, so later I will make more thin linings of some material, maybe foam rubber or linoleum.
