Once upon a time only one application was known for a wine cork - to slip a metal lid of a saucepan under the handle so that your fingers do not burn, and that's it! Since then, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge, and a lot of original ideas for the unusual use of cork in everyday life were born!

Good afternoon dear friends!

And this is not surprising. Since the cork, which everyone is used to throwing into the trash bin after opening the bottle, is an extremely multifaceted and multifunctional "material". And that's why, for example, a cork can be used to protect the table, as a storage system, as a decorative element, or even as a means of preventing rotting of vegetables and fruits. So do not rush to throw it away, it is still capable of much!

In general, I will not beat around the bush, but I will introduce you 6 examples of useful uses of bottle caps in everyday life.

1. For the protection of fruits and vegetables. That's right, you read that, the cork is able to protect fruits / vegetables from midges and quick spoilage. To do this, you just need to cut it in half and put it in a vase with fruits. The cork will scare away insects and will absorb excess moisture, which leads to rotting of vegetables / fruits.

Of course, this method, of course, will not allow you to store the fruits indefinitely, but it will give you a few extra days.

2.To prevent heat damage to the table. Cork is an excellent insulating material, so it can make an excellent hot pad. So grab some glue and lots of wine corks. Then glue the three vertically standing corks together, and then add one at a time to get a circle of the diameter you need (slightly larger than the size of the frying pan and pan).

That's it, the hot plate is ready, you can put it on the table and use it!

3.For the name of herbs. Young plants, flowers, herbs are difficult to distinguish from each other if they are planted in the same container. So, in order not to forget what is growing in you and in what order, I propose to make special tags out of cork that are not afraid of moisture.

Prepare skewers, corks, and a permanent marker. Now write the name of the plant on the cork with a marker, pierce it with a skewer and stick it into the ground next to the specimen.

Don't have a marker at hand? Not a problem either! Make a notch at the top of the cork, and then insert a laminated paper tag with a name on it. It should be enough for one summer.

4.For storing needles and threads. Have a plastic needle storage container broken recently? Not a problem at all! Let's make a "pincushion" from a wine or champagne cork. Moreover, for such a trifle you need something - cut off about 1/2 or 1/3 of the cork so that it does not roll, and that's it. Now you can safely stick needles into it and put the DIY container on the table.

By the way, the cork can still be useful when storing or transporting threads. To do this, make an incision in the cork, wind the thread of the required length on the newly-made "spool", and then fix the end in the previously made small side incision. Everything!

5.To support furniture. It often happens that some pieces of furniture are staggering: a wardrobe, a table, a bedside table, etc. This situation can infuriate anyone. So, to correct an unpleasant circumstance, you can use a cork. She will support the furniture and will not spoil the interior, unlike newspapers or magazines, which can be seen under the furniture legs.

In addition, cork can help you preserve laminate, linoleum and parquet flooring when furnishing a room. For this purpose, cut it into several flat pieces and glue it to the furniture legs. That's it, you won't see any more scratches!

6.To re-seal the bottle. Of course, it is not customary for us to leave the "drink" for the next time, but this happens too! So if this happened suddenly, I suggest you close it until better times. But how to do this if the old cork does not want to climb back into the neck?

It's simple, the cork needs to be boiled in a pot of water for a few minutes. This will disinfect and soften it. This means that it will be much easier to return it back to the neck of the bottle. Actually, that's it!
