A treasure with a curse. I tell you what a friend found in a bought house and how it turned out

From childhood we were taught: it's not good to take someone else's! And if a valuable find has no owner, can it be appropriated? Or is it better to hand over to the state? It is difficult to find the correct answer, at such moments greed wakes up and common sense disappears somewhere. Let's draw a conclusion from the real incident that our interlocutor Denis told about.

A treasure with a curse. I tell you what a friend found in a bought house and how it turned out

Buying a home

My friend Nikolai has always dreamed of his own home. He did not want to build from scratch - it was expensive; therefore I was considering options in the secondary market. He planned to take an old house, move in and slowly equip it. The dream came true - after a month of searching, a good option turned up: a wooden house of 90 sq. meters in the suburbs.

The house itself is solid, but neglected: no one has lived in it for five years. The landlady died, her sister used the plot as a summer residence, and when she became seriously ill, she rented it out. But the tenants did not want to live in such a house: the water and toilet are outside, they have to heat them with wood; so I decided to sell the burden.

Find

Immediately after the purchase, Nikolai began to renovate the house. He started, as it should be, with logs and floors - they walked too much. And when replacing the lag in the basement, he found a metal box from under the cereals. The box is rusty, filled with something weighty.

He wanted to throw it out, but when he opened it, he could not believe his eyes: inside, wrapped in a rag, were coins, rings, watches, bracelets and chains. The main part of the jewelry is gold. Antique coins - copper, silver and gold. It was a real treasure!

Nikolai was silent about this for a week, and then he told me. I myself did not know what to do, but I reasoned as follows. No one has lived in the house for the last five years, which means that the stash has been there for a relatively long time. It is unlikely that the owner of such good would have left values for such a long period. The conclusion followed: there is no owner and the treasure can be sold.

Easy money and revelry

He asked me to help in the sale of jewelry, or rather, to accompany him on a trip to the spools and antique dealers. For this he promised to give a boat motor and set a chic table in the restaurant. I saw nothing criminal in this and agreed.

Almost six hundred grams of gold came out - it was handed over with scrap. But with the coins, we got a pleasant surprise: for the collection we found, we were immediately offered a brand new Volga (GAZ 31105). By the way, I forgot to say that it was 2006 and this Volga was quite a prestigious car in the provinces.

Having exchanged the find for money and a car, we began to celebrate. Nikolai bought the promised gift - a new outboard motor, and, to celebrate, gave me five hundred dollars on top. We celebrated and had fun for a week, until the wives took us home.

After that, happy and confident in the gift of fate, Nikolai passed the gas, repaired the house, and put up a new fence. It would seem that everything worked out, but ...

The owner was found

A year and a half passed and guests came to see Nicholas. The owner of the treasure showed up. It turns out that this was a relative of the former owner of the house and all this time he was in prison. As befits in this case, he demanded to return the found box.

Nikolai was about to open it, but the owner of the hidden good already knew: when, through whom and for how much his jewelry had been sold. He himself was engaged in antiques, for which he was repeatedly imprisoned. At this point, my friend realized that he was in a serious story.

Gave everything

Naturally, the demanding and annoying guest came not alone, but with the brothers, who within an hour received a receipt from Nikolai for $ 30,000 and left in his car. He did not object, as they broke his nose and threatened to break the bones of his children and his wife. From that moment on, the money back period went up - my friend had only one month.

Nikolai had three options: go to the police, run away, or give the money. He was in the militia, but there he was advised to give up someone else's and disperse with the bandits in an amicable way. Landing one problem wouldn't solve. Our crime is organized and it organizes something. For example, setting fire to a house.

Nowhere to run and nothing to. There is also nothing to give away - he will not collect such a sum in three years. There is nowhere to borrow. There was only one option - selling the house. But this is the time, and the debt will not wait.

After thinking and weighing everything, Nikolai met with the owner of the ill-fated treasure and offered to sell the house. The brothers agreed to this option, but there was one "but" - there was nowhere to register the children and the deal could be launched.

But the "generous" bandits offered a way out - a room in a hostel on the outskirts in exchange for a house. Children can be registered there, and indeed, not be left homeless.

And so this story ended. After that, Nikolai drank for a year, but then he found the strength to stop. He lived in this hostel for ten years until he earned a two-room apartment.

In general, the treasure came out sideways. I consider what happened to be a real curse, since these jewels did not bring anything good to anyone. And the motor given to me was stolen right from the garage, at the same time robbing the car.
