How to improve a chain-link fence: 3 ideas that are inexpensive to implement

A chain-link mesh is an inexpensive, practical, but not very aesthetic fence. Another disadvantage of the mesh fence is full visibility: from the street the yard is in full view. How to make the mesh look attractive and make the fence protect from prying eyes - read on.

First idea - cellophane tapes

To implement it, you will need: thick black cellophane, scissors, a ruler and a stapler. All you need to do is cut the cellophane into even ribbons to the size of the cells; thread the tapes diagonally through the cells and secure with a stapler at the top and bottom.

The advantages of the method: cheap, fast, aesthetically pleasing. Disadvantages: impractical - cellophane will last no more than one season; noise - in windy weather, the tapes will hum.

Second idea - wooden or plastic planks

The principle is the same as with ribbons, but only the material will be stronger and more reliable. You will need slats or plastic slats here. These elements are inserted into the grid between cells from top to bottom. There is no need to attach the planks.

You will have to buy plastic strips. But the slats can be made by yourself using a circular saw or ordered at the nearest carpentry. Before installation, it is better to treat wood with impregnation or varnish, or paint it in any color you like.

The advantages of the method: attractive appearance of the fence; durability - the planks will stand until the fence falls. Disadvantage: The fence makes noise in windy weather.

Idea three - shading mesh

There is now a shading polymer mesh on sale. It is used for fencing objects during construction. Everyone has probably seen how the scaffolding is tightened when repairing city buildings - and this is the shading grid.

The material is inexpensive, but strong - it will last for more than one season. All you need to do is attach the mesh to the chain-link fence using plastic clamps. To reduce visibility, you can stretch the shading mesh in two layers.

The advantages of the method: cheap, fast. Disadvantage: the mesh will stretch over time, sag, lose color.

All of the above methods are not some kind of recommendations for building a fence from a chain-link and refining it with tape or strips. These tips are useful as a stopgap measure. For example, you rented a summer cottage or a country house, where the yards are divided by a netting, and you don't want your neighbors to track all your actions. Hardly anyone will build a capital fence in a rented house - this is a gift to someone else's uncle. And as a temporary solution, these methods will work great.
