Horizontal seams with glue, vertical seams with glue-foam. This method of laying blocks seemed very strange to many. Although here each element has its own role.

Friends, a big hello to everyone. It's been two years since I started laying out the first row of blocks for the walls of my house.

They scared me that my "non-standard masonry" would not last long. I am telling the principle, showing the rultat.

But to finish the masonry, I had to spend a lot of time and effort.

Which I certainly did not count on. The plans were: to deliver the box in a month (well, okay, I have no experience, and I work alone ...). As a result, spring and summer were gone before the last block was laid ...

And everything would be fine, but many predicted bad consequences for me.

Everything is connected with what I did the laying of blocks.

In the horizontal seam there was glue for aerated concrete, and the vertical ones were filled with foam glue.

And that's why I decided to make such a "hodgepodge".

  • In general, the priority for me was the standard glue for aerated concrete. Thin joint (up to 3 mm) with excellent adhesion and time-tested cementitious composition.

But among all the pluses, there was a significant (for me) minus - it's shrinkage. And if in horizontal seams this is not scary, then micro slots will appear in vertical seams. And this is already unnecessary heat loss ...

Therefore, for vertical seams, a foam glue was chosen that will not shrink.
  • As a result, due to horizontal seams, the integrity of the structure is preserved (which is sufficient in the case of aerated concrete), and there is no unnecessary heat loss through vertical seams.

Perhaps a strange theory, but so far it works ...

Of course, very little time has passed, only two years, but this is also an indicator.

  • There are no shrinkage cracks in the masonry.
  • At the same time, the walls are loaded to the maximum (the roof is insulated).

And when, seeing the photographs of the walls of my house, some comrades write to me that I have done some nonsense, then I do not want to persuade them... As a result, my goal is not to prove something to someone, but to get a result that suits me.

βœ… Friends, I'm still waiting for your opinion in the comments 😊... And I want not empty statements, but well-grounded arguments. I know you can.
