Houses with a huge area - are they "show-off" or a necessity? I think 100 sq. m for a family with children - this is an adequate maximum!

Hello everyone! I was thinking here recently on such a question. People are building their houses, tall, beautiful - 3-4 floors! They build their whole life! And when everything is ready, these floors are no longer needed by anyone!

I have friends! They are a little over 40 years old. Now they have three boys growing up! And now, for 20 years, my friend has been building a house! Started long before the wedding and the appearance of children! He erected a four-story box, finished the attic floor and lived there for over 10 years. Upstairs he got such a studio apartment - a huge room with a kitchen, a bathroom and a small bedroom next to it. Moreover, all the lower floors were simply plastered!

Met the woman of my dreams! They began to live together on this attic floor! Then we made ourselves a bedroom on the floor below. At the same time, the stairs and other rooms remained concrete!

A little later their eldest son was born. Thinking about the nursery. Proceed with the gradual finishing of the third floor. We made a children's room and a second bathroom next to the bedroom. Just finished by the time the second son was born!

Now they have three children! And they live on the top two floors (3rd floor and attic)! There are two children's rooms, a bedroom for adults, a kitchen + an attic floor with a spacious living room, a bathroom and a small guest bedroom.

The two lower floors are still unfinished after 20 years! And the point is not that there is not enough finance for finishing. The real reason is that rooms on the lower floors are basically unnecessary. They are superfluous for their large family!

Why do people build beautiful huge houses for themselves? After all, it was immediately clear that huge areas are impractical! Expensive financially, labor-intensive and they do not need anything!

Repeatedly I asked a friend: "Did he regret that he started such a construction?"

And of course, he replied that he had no regrets! Still would! Not everyone can admit that they are wrong)) But he says that he was young, imagined how children would run in his big house who needed space! How relatives and friends will gather and stay overnight!

But in fact it turned out not quite so! Everyone has their own life, their own home, to which they want to return! Friends and parents rarely stay overnight! Everyone wants to go home!

Then the friend admitted that he was young, the blood was boiling! I started building, things went up the hill! I bought a plot and simply could not deny myself the pleasure of showing everyone what success he had achieved! Well, he himself is engaged in construction, which means that the house must be appropriate!

But time has passed, priorities have been set differently! And the two lower floors are still empty as unnecessary! Maybe someday they will finish them) But it is unlikely)

So I think that a two-storey house with an area of 100 square meters is an excellent, adequate option for a family! Everyone in the room! What else is needed?!

What do you think? Looking for big houses? Is it space, freedom and pleasure? Or extra work and unnecessary "show-off"?
