My simple bookkeeping helped me to draw conclusions about where it is cheaper for a pensioner to live - my parents in St. Petersburg or my wife's parents in the outback of the Tver region. Everyone is already retired. Let's count! We will not count additional income and salary. Only pension)

And let's proceed from the calculation of one living pensioner!

So my parents' life

There is an apartment of 62 square meters, and on average they pay 4500 rubles for a communal apartment. Real estate tax is not paid - beneficiaries.

It is necessary to add 1100 rubles to the rent for landline telephone, cable and Internet, 200 rubles for gas, 285 rubles for the overhaul fund. As a result, the monthly living expenses in St. Petersburg amount to 6100 rubles, and per year it is more than 73 thousand. Thumbs up!

The father's pension with all the bonuses and benefits is 14,200, and a year it is 170,000. As a result, about 97 thousand or 8100 rubles a month are left for him to live a year. It’s tense, but you can live as long as you don’t spend money on pills.

Mother-in-law's life in Tver

A plot of 13.4 acres, which is more than 20 times more than my parents' apartment! He does not pay the rent, he does not pay the tax on the basis of a privilege either. But, insurance costs 8300 per year, firewood for the furnace about 20 thousand, 2 gas cylinders for 2200 rubles. Television is free, but there are only 8-9 channels showing consistently.

In total, my mother-in-law spends a year about 30 thousand rubles. She receives a little less pension than my father - 13 thousand, and this amounts to about 155 thousand rubles a year. We minus expenses from income, and it turns out that she has about 10 500 rubles per month free money, taking into account the fact that she receives less.

Let's compare the quality of life

I can do nothing at home, watch TV and just not take a steam bath. The water is flowing, the apartment is warm, there is gas. And in the village it is not just necessary to heat the stove, chop wood and apply water - also a vegetable garden with a plot!

The costs of renovating an apartment and maintaining the plot are roughly comparable, but in the village I will have my own vegetables and fruits, and this will save money. But due to logistics, some products will cost an order of magnitude more. 10 percent or even 20 percent.

There is nowhere in the village without a car, and this is an additional cost. But in St. Petersburg, a car is not needed at all - extra taxes, expenses and inconveniences. It is really cheaper by taxi or karshi.

So the conclusions

1. Living in the countryside is cheaper, there is more money left, but life is immeasurably more difficult.

2. It is much easier to live in the city, but you can feel it in terms of money - you have to pay for comfort.

Everyone chooses his own life, which he likes. In general, they prefer not to choose, but to spend six months in the city, six months in the countryside. What about you?
