An elegant and inexpensive way to make a blind area according to SNiP from Scandinavia
If at least 5 people out of a thousand who have read the article to the end can save money and time on arranging a blind area, I will be happy.

Hot Finnish guys live in a damp and rather gloomy climate, and therefore they really appreciate the time they spend not in the city, but in a country house. And when yokkala-pukkala builds his country dwelling, then the concrete blind area around it doesn't.
And if you say that this is wrong and contrary to building codes and regulations (that is, SNiP), then I will make the following reference:
Manual to SNiP 2.02.01-83 "Manual for the design of the foundations of buildings and structures" (paragraph 3.182):
Waterproof blind areas should be provided around each building. For buildings and structures erected on sites with type II soil conditions in terms of subsidence, the width of the blind area should be at least 2 m and overlap the sinuses.
And there is not a single mention that the blind area MUST be concrete.
According to the same manual, we can ensure the removal of moisture from the house with a layer of 15 cm in thickness. clay (which remained, for example, from digging a foundation or a cesspool), and on top - we can do what whatever.
My option is to lay a dense planter membrane on top of the clay (the main thing is not roofing material) and cover it with river pebbles, gravel, or fresh soil and sow with a lawn. Which option is more aesthetically pleasing - choose for yourself.
A fifteen-centimeter layer of clay is enough to drain water away from the house. The film will protect the clay from being washed out by drops of water from the roof. You can walk on gravel. And it looks beautiful.
Actually, such blind areas are common in Finland. Sometimes a plastic water intake is also placed under the water drain and a PVC pipe is driven from the receiver to the well or the water is poured onto the horizon.
Everything. Brilliant. Simply. Cheap. Reliable. - A rare coincidence, by the way ...
