Only here they still use vertical canisters, in Europe they have long been using horizontal
I am sure many people still use vertical canisters, which are surprisingly quite popular in our country. I honestly can't understand why people continue to use them, because they are not convenient in all terms! Perhaps this is due to the fact that in Soviet times only such cans were produced and our people are very accustomed to them.
I also have such a canister (I got it from my grandfather). I confess that it caused me a lot of inconvenience and I stopped using it for a long time, now I'll tell you why.
Such a canister is only suitable for storing gasoline, but not for transporting it. Due to its design, the vertical canister is very unstable; during transportation, it can tip over and all the gasoline will end up in the trunk. To prevent this from happening, I always had to prop the canister with everything that was at hand.
In addition, I had to put an elastic band under the lid so that it closed more tightly and the gasoline did not spill for sure (if the canister did turn over). Standard rubber bands dry quickly, and the clamping cap, while comfortable, is very unreliable.
Another big disadvantage of a vertical canister is that it is inconvenient to pour gasoline out of it. This requires a watering can, air gets into the neck of the canister and gasoline spits out, and if there is a small breeze outside, the gasoline simply flies around.
For 5 years now I have been using a horizontal canister and now I ask myself only one question: "Why didn't I buy it earlier, because it's so comfortable?"By the way, Europeans have been using them for a long time and now you will understand why.
Unlike a vertical canister, a horizontal canister is convenient and safe to transport in a car, because it will not overturn under any circumstances. However, these are not all of its advantages.
A horizontal canister has a number of other advantages. The canister lid has a threaded connection and even if the rubber gasket leaks out, the gasoline will not go anywhere.
In the set, such canisters have special tubes for convenient pouring of gasoline, which are attached to the side (the tube is put on instead of the lid). This way you will not spill a drop of precious gasoline.
There is a special screw in the back of the canister. By unscrewing it, gasoline will quickly pour out of the canister, since air will not get into the neck. Watch a short video below.
