Oak door latch handle.
After serving less than six months, the handle at the door latch on the door to the workshop broke.
The latch was, of course, inexpensive, but this is not the first time I have encountered such a breakdown, both on latches and on locks.
I didn't want to buy another latch for several months, so I decided to make oak handles.
I cut off a couple of 50x50x60 mm pieces of oak. I drilled a 10 mm hole in the center for the latch square.
The square metal bar of the latch enters such a hole with effort and does not turn.
Then I gave the shape to the handle. (Scroll through the gallery)
The inner sides are sanded with grinding drum.
Then I polished it using my own drill. More details look here.
In the handles, I drilled additional holes for the studs to secure the handle to the door. Drilled directly with the latch square. The holes are calculated taking into account the thickness of the door.
I used a nail of a suitable diameter as pins. Glued it on cyanoacrylate glue (Super glue).
The handle fits well, turns easily. Hopefully it will last longer than its predecessor.
