Magnifying mirror
A tabletop mirror with a magnifying effect is an item that can be found in almost every home. The thing is necessary and useful. But if such a mirror is left on a windowsill on a sunny day, it can cause a serious fire.
The fact is that the curved surface of a magnifying mirror can focus the sun's rays at one point. If this "hot" point hits something fuel, trouble cannot be avoided. Do not leave such mirrors on windowsills and in places where the sun's rays fall on them!
Decorative (snow or magic) balls
Many houses have toys in the form of a transparent spherical container with a figurine and a liquid inside. They are called snow or magic balls. And this is not an empty phrase - the toy is quite capable of magic, but only black... If you put it at the wrong time and in the wrong place, then it will easily arrange a "small" fire.
These toys can also let the sun's rays pass through and concentrate them at one point. This is essentially the same lens. Most often, magic balls decorate bookshelves and coffee tables. The connection here is obvious: sun - magnifying glass - book / magazine - heating - ignition. It is better to keep these objects away from the rays of the sun.
Water bottle
This item can also collect the sun's rays in a very dangerous beam. Of course, the shape of the bottle is not as smooth as that of the ball - the beam of rays turns out to be "clumsy" and the occurrence of a heating point is unlikely. But the bottle, for example, can be dropped by pets, and in a horizontal position it will make a good lens.
It is undesirable to leave water bottles in the area of windows and balcony doors. The danger with this liquid-filled plastic container is that it can ignite carpet, linoleum and other combustible floor coverings.
And don't leave water bottles in the car! In hot weather, the interior of the car gets very hot and the possibility of carpet ignition increases significantly.
Glass / transparent door handles
This is a rare but still existing lens option. In an unfortunate combination of circumstances, such a handle may well set fire to a wall or floor. In order not to be unfounded, we attach a photo of the consequences of an unsuccessful design decision.
Glass hoods for street lamps
This contraption can harm the yard and set fire to, for example, a dry lawn. If you decide to install lamps with transparent ball-shaped caps, make sure that this harmless lens is not aimed at flammable materials.
