When and how to start sprinkling tomatoes from late blight?

For the development of a disease such as late blight, hot days, cold nights, fog and cool dew are of great importance. This weather sets in when the ripening dates for tomatoes come.

At this time, it is late to use chemicals to get rid of the disease, because they accumulate in the fruit, which can negatively affect human health.

Timely preventive measures will help to protect the crop from this disease. Phytophthora activity reaches its highest point at the end of summer, and prevention against the disease should be started.

The disease can tolerate cold weather in potato tubers, especially those that remain in the ground after harvest are dangerous.

In addition, phytophthora spores can be contained in compost consisting of tops of tomatoes or other crops related to nightshade.

With the onset of spring, the soil is infected with late blight, which is why preventive measures should be taken at the earliest stages of crop growth.

The use of phosphorus and potassium supplements increases immunity and resistance to fungus. When planting seedlings in open ground, copper sulfate is introduced into the holes to disinfect the soil.

When the first flowers appear, you should process the tomatoes on the leaves using superphosphate. To do this, dissolve three tablespoons of the powder in a liter of hot water and leave for 24 hours.

After the allotted time, carefully drain the liquid into a container, while trying not to shake the precipitate. Dilute the liquid in proportions 1 to 9 with water.

During flowering, the culture should be treated with products that include copper, and you can also use fungicides by preparing them according to the instructions.

When the fruits begin to set, treatment with biofungicide gives good results. To achieve normal air ventilation, you should get rid of the lower leaves.

When the fruits begin to ripen, they should be treated with folk remedies: tincture of garlic, onion skins, an iodine solution, a solution of sour milk or yeast.

All nightshade crops are infected with late blight. It strikes potatoes several weeks earlier than tomatoes. After the first signs become noticeable on the potatoes, the tomatoes for preventive purposes should be treated with liquids containing copper:

• Bordeaux liquid;

• copper chloride;

• copper sulfate.

Plants growing outdoors are cultivated from late spring until harvest is complete. The tops should be removed after harvest because they may develop fungus.
