When does emotional burnout begin and why do we go to unloved work and endure it all for years

Most of us wake up every Monday under the duress of an alarm, pack up and go to work (office, factory, factory, construction site, etc.). And it's good if you really love your job and really do what you love for which you get paid.

But, unfortunately, for many, their work is not a favorite pastime, but a necessary source of finance that allows them to earn bread, pay for utilities and service loans.

Probably, many of you have heard about emotional burnout and it is generally accepted that it begins after many years of working with people on the same place, but I believe that it (emotional burnout) can begin literally from school, and now I will try to explain my point vision.

Limited choice. The first step to burnout from college

Let's remember our school years with you. We all believed that after we graduate from school, an unreal field of prospects and various opportunities will open up before us.

But personally I (like many others), having successfully completed all examination papers in compulsory subjects and subjects by choice (I am one of those who were not touched by the millstones of the exam), faced a difficult choice of where to apply the documents.

Back in school, I dreamed of becoming a writer, but even then the family clearly made it clear that writing stories isn’t a lot. earn, but the manifested craving for physics clearly hinted that it was necessary to choose universities with physical and mathematical slope.

But not everything was affordable for our family, and getting to budget places was almost unrealistic. Therefore, it was decided to choose energy as a source of income in the future.

And even in this case, the choice was limited, because I had to go to study not where I wanted to, but where I was accepted and there was enough money to pay for tuition. And I want to say that I am far from the only one who went to study where he could, and did not want to.

Job search is a challenge

Well, that's half the battle. After successfully graduating from the university and receiving a diploma in power engineering, a new quest began, the task of which was to find a job without work experience in the specialty, when all employers require work experience.

Therefore, here, too, many simply do not have a choice, and therefore people go to work where they took them. It is at this moment that we have salesmen-economists, couriers-energy, etc. combinations.

And it turns out that even without starting his work activity, there are already all the prerequisites for a quick emotional burnout. After all, we unlearned who we could and are looking for work not where we like, but where they will take.

Job search is a difficult task.
Job search is a difficult task.

But here comes the "long-awaited" working days and the process of recruiting the negative is only accelerating. After all, we begin to go to our "favorite" job in order to get the money we need for our survival.

Colleagues are bastards, the boss is a fool, work is meaningless, etc. Do you recognize your thoughts? Personally, this is exactly what happened when I finally found a job as an electrician in the DRSU (road repair construction department), but due to the whim of the authorities, instead of servicing the electrical facilities of the enterprise, we, electricians, painted curbs, mowed the grass, laid asphalt.

For all attempts to reach out to the leader (yes, I was hot and young), they clearly indicated the place to me: I am the boss - you are a fool.

Naturally, such work did not arouse any enthusiasm in me, and every day was a challenge for me. After a year of such "work", I almost openly hated the entire management, and the last straw for me was the case when, after a long work and due to untimely maintenance, the engine on bitumen was covered storage.

Naturally, all the dogs were hanged on the electricians for downtime, since “because of us” there were losses. I broke down and wrote a statement. But my colleagues stayed. And the point was not that everything suited them, they also did not like it all. But their situation was even worse, because they had loans.

Loans and debts make us uncomplaining and obedient hard workers

We find ourselves in even greater bondage when we take out a loan or, God forbid, a mortgage, because in this case the need for work increases even more. And that means that it will not be possible to just take it and leave.

After all, every month a certain amount of money will be debited from our account, and if we don’t put anything there by that moment, then we will get fines (delay). And this obligatory bondage does not add confidence and peace of mind to us, and day after day it destroys our inner self.

You know, a few years later, circumstances threw me to my former place of work, and I decided to take the opportunity and see who is now working in the electrical department and how they are doing.

How surprised I was when I saw all the same faces (the only new person is the one who came to my place). After talking, I found out that everything is the same with them, and in order to somehow brighten up working days, many began to drink.

To my mute reproach on this matter, the answer came immediately, that it is easier to digest all this nonsense and helps not to get completely off the hook.

A vicious circle from which there is no way out, but it still exists

And it turns out that the limited choice, the inability to realize oneself triggers this process of emotional burnout, and financial bondage, into which we drive ourselves, only accelerates it and does not even allow us to think about changing setting.

The only way out of this seemingly hopeless situation, in my opinion, is to develop your hobby and try to monetize it. For example, you go to your "unloved" job every day, but at the same time you are fond of drawing.

So I suggest that you develop your hobby most of the time. Join various circles, develop your talent and even try to monetize it. Yes, do not be afraid to experiment and you will succeed.

And also try to use such a "useful" product as a loan as little as possible. In the comments, write what you personally see the way out of constant emotional burnout and what personally you can advise on this.

Well, if you liked the material, then rate it and share it on your social networks. Thank you for your attention!
