In Crimea, houses are often built from this rare material, I do not recommend it, and here's why
What can I say, now is the time to share my experience with this material.
Shell rock was advised to me when I came to build a complex of buildings as part of my private business).
Let's start with the pros.
1. Noise isolation
2. cool in the heat
3. Local accessibility in the case of Crimea
And now the cons.
1. Before laying this material, it must be soaked in a bath with soil, in this bath, for good, it must swim for half an hour for soil penetration thoroughly, then keep in mind that you will not need 10 or 20 liters of soil, but God knows how much. At the same time, time passes and this time eats your money and steals the start of commissioning.
2. Do not try to leave the shell rock not closed from the external environment, the rains wash it away quickly and it disappears like Snow White's shoe.
3. Due to the fact that there is simply no geometry in these shell rock cubes, be prepared for a fierce consumption of masonry mortar. So you are provided with cold bridges around the perimeter of these huge seams. Therefore, forget about construction outside a warm climate.
Bottom line for me:
He built one of 12 buildings with this material, which only local Crimean builders can work with, those who come to work when there is a mood and there is no diarrhea, the calves did not calve or the mother-in-law did not farrow and decided to forget about him forever and ever.
I stupidly built the next building by erecting a stiffening diaphragm from reinforced concrete and filling it with gas silicate, which is not a priori material for carrying the load. It turned out to be 30% cheaper, and after 3 years of operation, it turned out that in winters this single building eats money in winter for heating by almost 15-20% more.
I don't regret building it. Thanks to this experience, at the start I got the knowledge of what local builders are like and brought builders from the Moscow region to the rest of the buildings. Keep in mind that with this material you doom yourself to work with very slow people who like to work on salary, they are from the volume.
