The developed Russian spacecraft "Bion-M" No. 2 will perform a series of experiments in orbit with animals
Our Russian company Roskosmos, together with the RCC (Rocket and Space Center), entered into an agreement on development of the spacecraft "Bion-M" No. 2, which will be created for biomedical experiments in outer space. This was reported by Vladimir Sychev, Deputy Director of the Institute for Biomedical Problems (IBMP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
What is the essence of these space experiments
As you can see from the name, this spacecraft is far from the first to go into space for research missions. Between 1973 and 1996, 11 Bion satellites were launched with monkeys on board.
And the first Bion-M flew in 2013. with mice, gerbils, geckos, snails, crustaceans, fish and other microorganisms. The first flight of the Bion-M spacecraft ended unsuccessfully. In the new version of "Bion-M" engineers have taken into account all the shortcomings, and the second version should be fully functional and reliable in operation.
So what is the essence of flight? Initially, the biosatellite was planned to be sent to an altitude of 800 km, where the planet's inner radiation belt originates, to determine the impact of the effects of space flight on living organisms.
But then they nevertheless decided to launch the device into an orbit with an altitude of 20 thousand km and remake it, giving the name "Ark", as well as conduct a study of the influence space on the behavior of organisms at such an altitude before further human flights to our satellite - the Moon, as well as other space objects of the Solar systems.
What nuances will be taken into account before the flight
First, what they want to do is to increase the number of rodents to 70 individuals (there were 45 of them during the first flight of the Bion-M). Their increase is due to the fact that some of the animals may not be able to withstand the overload.
And the increase in the number of animals is explained by scientists by the fact that they want to test the effect of cosmic radiation on as many living organisms as possible during the experiment.
Secondly, scientists will send more fruit flies that have never been in orbit.
And, thirdly, the researchers want to repeat exactly all the experiments that were carried out on the first "Bion".
This experiment is extremely important for the entire space industry as a whole, so we will observe it. results closely, and to realize that it is Russian engineers and scientists who are conducting such an experiment extremely nice. Well, if you liked the material, then do not forget to subscribe to the channel and rate it. Thank you for your attention!
