Why we don't have mosquitoes on the street in 2021 - has nature really taken pity on us?

If not for the heat, yes dust, mosquitoes, and flies! "

This is how the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin wrote. But we in Russia of the 21st century love summer very much. After all, there is not so much dust now as in the 19th century, most of the roads are nevertheless asphalted. A sultry summer happens once every 10 years, so we enjoy such a summer as children. We have repellents against mosquitoes and flies.

Although last year there were so many mosquitoes that no aerosols, spirals, ointments and drops helped at all - the mosquitoes did not allow either to get up or sit down, climbed under the clothes and bit like dogs.

Expectation and reality

It was this abundance of gnat that poisoned me in the first years of my life in the village.
After all, as it seemed, I went out into the garden, sat on a bench and sat to myself, admiring the results of my labors - beds and flower beds. At the same time, you drink tea with herbs, or even something stronger - your own production.

But in fact it turned out that he went out into the garden, all wrapped up in a mosquito, sat down for a minute, fanning himself with branches and cursing the mosquitoes. What kind of tea is there - you can't remove the mosquito net, parasites will instantly stick around your face. He sat, waved his hand and went into the house, squeezing through the door so that not a single mosquito could penetrate. And it will still penetrate, I had to turn on the fumigator and change the pills in it more often.

Where did the mosquitoes go?

And this year I have been quietly working all summer in the garden and vegetable garden in shorts, I do not splash with anything. I don't even know where I have the repellent. Where did the mosquitoes go?

It turns out that the heat saved us. Due to the hot spring and early summer, there was little moisture, all the small bodies of water were dry. Namely, in puddles, small lakes and in shallow water, mosquito larvae develop from eggs. They need moisture; without it, the development cycle of mosquitoes does not go through its circle.

Therefore, there is so little gnat this year. Of course, when we went to pick mushrooms in humid forests, we had to brush them off - there are mosquitoes, but it is impossible to imagine any comparison with previous years.

It is the hot summer that makes it possible to calmly sit in the garden, as dreamed of, gaze at the stars and think that sooner or later dreams will come true!

Let's remember this summer without mosquitoes, maybe it will be such a rare exception that we will consider it unique.

And then I thought that everything in nature is interconnected. But what about birds, frogs and other animals that feed on mosquitoes? What do they eat? Yes, let's hope that they have enough other food.
