The future Russian spacecraft Eagle will have an advanced crew rescue system

The promising Russian spacecraft Eagle, which was originally named Federation, will be equipped with an advanced crew rescue system. The new development became known from the message of the "Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering" (MIT) - part of the state corporation "Roscosmos".

New crew rescue system for a new ship

So for the spacecraft "Eagle", which in the future is planned to be used as a transport, delivering cargo and astronauts, both to the moon and to future orbital stations, scientists are developing new systems. And one of these developments is an emergency rescue rocket unit (RBAS), the main purpose of which is to move the head unit with astronauts away from the emergency rocket.

Note. The first test flights of the Orel spacecraft from the Vostochny cosmodrome in a fully autonomous version are planned for 2023.

So, a special rod will be used as part of the RBAS, on which two engines will be installed at once: the main engine and the control engine. At the same time, the use of additional aerodynamic stabilizers is not provided in the current version of the installation.

So, according to the statement of the MIT representatives, as of the current date, the process of manufacturing all the components of the RBAS is underway, the process is underway burning of power units, as well as test surveys to find the ultimate strength of all components installation.

After that, according to the plan, throw tests of the system will be performed, and then test launches already in working conjunction with the rocket complex.

So, according to the calculations of engineers, direct throw tests will be performed in the second half of 2023 and early 2024. So the RBAS installation will be lifted from the ground to a given height and then engineers will test and control all parameters and the correctness of their operation.

Well, it's nice to know that not only the Americans and the Chinese are developing their space programs, but also Russia has its own projects, which are developed not only on paper, but also in metal.
