They say mice and ants love styrofoam, but what about birds? I check the condition of the open insulation, I find something interesting.
Any "living creature" in your home is a normal phenomenon (as it turned out). Only the main thing is that she walk, crawl, and fly outside... But during construction, they may find weak points ...
Friends, a big hello to everyone. It is good when a fully finished house is built in one season. But there are self-builders (like me) who stretch everything for several years, and then their nuances come out ...
β First of all, atmospheric influences. And this is very much felt at all stages, until the house goes under the roof. Here you adjust to the weather, and endure whatever it gives you ...
But you can't go anywhere, especially when you do everything alone.
β The second factor surprised me more.
I never thought that my house under construction would attract all sorts of animals. Ants and various flying insects - that's okay ..
But the birds could do real harm.
They liked my house when the roof was already installed, but there were no windows yet, and the gables had access to the inside.
Even then, I began to drive them, but after closing the warm circuit, they chose the under-roof space in the ventilation gap under the metal tile. And in addition to everything, they began to peck at the membrane (I noticed well before insulation. I had to urgently close all the ends of the roof, although I planned to postpone this until the complete exterior finish.
In general, I somehow drove them out. But the birds don't want to leave me.
Recently I saw how they "rub" under the eaves of the roof ...
And there I have the space between the rafters sealed with polystyrene, and so it was left until better times.
So they sit right on this foam. And I was strained by the traces left.
Either it was left of the claws, or they are trying to get into the house through the foam.
In addition to everything, I found a nest, twisted in a very convenient place for them.
Watch a short video, you can see everything there...
This is the second such find (I found the same one that year, only from the opposite side).
So far, there are no serious marks on the soft foam, but nevertheless these little pests are annoying me. And they will probably lag behind only when the entire outdoor furniture of the house is finished to the end.
Friends, I look forward to your advice in the comments. Is it worth worrying, or reconcile, understand and forgive these birds π.
