Recently, we have been talking a lot about what our bath will be like. We are already engaged in its design, gradually coming to a common opinion. The main thing we agreed on was that near the bathhouse we would have a covered extension that would act as a gazebo. There is no desire to put a gazebo separately - a waste of money.
I want to make the gazebo closed, or with opening windows, so that you can sit in summer and in warm weather, as if outside, but on cold, windy and rainy days you could create a comfortable environment.
Considering the issue of glazing, we decided to take a look at the newfangled soft windows, which are now widely advertised, sniffing everywhere, as an incredibly comfortable innovation.
Maybe once improved soft windows will be comfortable, cheap and practical, but not now, not at this stage of their existence. Why did we decide that? Because, at first, plastic double-glazed windows also had many opponents, but they conquered the world. Maybe soft windows will also be able to get rid of the shortcomings that they have now.
What are soft windows?
In fact, it is a thick film that acts as glass on the window. Or rather curtains. She retained the properties of the film - flexibility, transparency, wind-tightness, moisture-tightness.
Of course, this is not really a film, but PVC canvases with a thickness of 500 to 2000 microns. The thicker, the stronger the curtain.
In terms of price, soft windows are currently equal to the price of a double-glazed unit. That is, the pleasure is very expensive.

Of course, we love to use the latest developments in the construction industry. But the fact is that my cousin has already made such curtains on his gazebo. And he was dissatisfied.
The reasons for his dissatisfaction are as follows:
1. High cost. He said that a simple double-glazed unit would cost less, moreover, by 20 percent.
2. PVC curtains also retain the negative properties of the film - they do not breathe, do not allow air to pass through. That is, with the curtains closed, it becomes hot and stuffy in the gazebo, like in a bath. They can only be opened from below, which is uncomfortable.
3. They smell. It was the chemical smell in the sun that made him completely abandon such an expensive pleasure. Breathing harmful fumes in your garden is a small joy.
4. In the heat, the curtains sag, in the cold they become fragile. An icicle that fell from the roof has punched a hole below that cannot be repaired.
5. It is very difficult to find quality products, because all around there is only Chinese production. But most importantly, it is difficult to find good installers who know how to work with this product and can make the necessary stretch that will withstand both summer heat and winter frost. And good installers take a lot of money for their services, doubling the price of flexible windows.
So we listened to all this and decided that we shouldn't hurry up and test such a product on ourselves. It is better to order a simple double-glazed window that can be opened, put a mosquito net on it, or you can close it and relax in the gazebo without any problems.
