Then they took out the linen with wooden tongs, squeezed them out with rollers. Then it was necessary to rinse. We did it on the street (we lived in the village) in a cast-iron bath.
Mom then insisted on buying a modern machine, into which she just threw the linen, and she washes, squeezes, caresses herself. My father agreed and now my parents cannot imagine what they would do without such an assistant.
