Simple lighting for the home workshop and how it can affect vision
For several years in my workshop I have only used overhead lighting. These were three pairs of LED bulbs on independent switches. It seemed that the whole room was well lit, but at times everything had to strain the eyes.
Then I made a couple of tripods with homemade LED strip lights. These portable light sources complement the overhead light well and make working much more comfortable.
I talked about the construction of these tripods on the channel earlier. You can see it in this publication.
Last fall, I made repairs in the workshop - I insulated the ceiling and walls - and removed the overhead lighting. There is only one light bulb left.
I began to use only portable lamps, since it seemed to me that they gave enough light.
About six months later, I noticed that my eyesight began to deteriorate, I even had to buy glasses to see small text, to distinguish millimeters on a ruler and markings on a caliper.
I did not attach much importance to this, I attributed it to age-related changes (48 years old), and my peers have been using glasses for a long time.
But recently I decided to install an overhead light in the workshop. Chose 70W outdoor LED floodlights.
I put two spotlights in different parts of the workshop, each with its own switch. This was enough to illuminate the room well and completely.
This is a fairly inexpensive solution. Such searchlights cost around one thousand rubles.
Portable lights also continued to be used.
Workplace lighting has improved dramatically.
I took photos with the same settings.
Working with this kind of lighting turned out to be much better.
And I also found that I not necessary use glasses to make markings. The millimeters on the rulers turned out to be quite distinguishable.
That is, the combination of general overhead lighting and local illumination of the workplace turned out to be a good solution.
