The two most popular options for finishing ceilings, in the final version, externally, may not even differ. But for a self-builder, all the little things and nuances are important. The main thing is to figure it out in time ...

Friends, greetings to all. This article is not an answer to the question: how to make the right choice? Quite the opposite, and after it everything will become even more confusing. But it often happens when you do the work with your own hands, and especially for the first time.

Let's start with the fact that in my case it is already too late to reason.

Yes, the process of installing the frame for drywall is in full swing.

I started to make the ceiling out of plasterboard, and only then I thought: " Maybe it was better to stretch." Razitsa, through the eyes of a self-builder.

Many materials have already been purchased, work is underway and there is no turning back ...

But somewhere else on the installation of suspensions, I thought: Is it worth it at all? Indeed, in addition to the plasterboard ceiling, there is also a stretch ceiling.

To be honest, I did not consider this option precisely because of the very realization that a piece of stretched film would hang over my head.

✅ But over time, some stupid principles recede into the background, and real things become a priority ...

Of the advantages, the following can be distinguished:

  • a variety of options for stretch ceilings.

Gone are the days when all PVC ceilings were sculpted under a carbon copy. Now there is plenty to choose from: matte, satin, textured, fabric.

So there are enough options to stand out ...
  • The speed of work. My volumes are done in one day.
  • Lightweight construction.
  • Price.

Cons, I see the following:

You can't do it yourself. So you need to hire several people.

  • Possibility of damage. During operation, anything can happen.

Limitations in fantasy. Of course, there are options for how to diversify just a straight canvas, but there are not so many of them.

But screwing the next suspension and reasoning, I think about drywall.

Pros:

  • For me personally, the plasterboard ceiling somehow subconsciously inspires more confidence with its monumentality.

At the same time, you have no restrictions at all in terms of form and ideas.

Of course I'm not going to do something like that ...

But still there will be a couple of levels, and passing to the wall.

  • Possibility of adjustments during installation, and subsequent modifications. This is especially important when you do everything yourself, and the whole work plan is only in your head (I have already dealt with alterations more than once).

Minuses:

  • This is, of course, a much larger amount of work.
  • Well, the cost is more than that of stretch ceilings.
