They say fuel briquettes are better than firewood. I tried both, but I can't make a choice (there are many nuances).
It always seemed to me that all these fuel briquettes were just another option to pull money. Then I saw that people actually buy them in tons, and use them fully instead of firewood. Now I have a stove in my house, and this question has become even more interesting to me.
Friends, greetings to all. More than a month has passed since the installation of the stove in my house under construction. And although there is no frost yet, I still heat it for a comfortable temperature in the house.
It turns out that this process also has its own subtleties (for example, reverse thrust), and during this time I fully felt them, and so to speak, "got used" to this process.
About everything, I wrote in more detail in previous articles, on my channel.
Along with this, another interesting topic opened up for me.
I always believed that there is no better option for a stove than dry birch firewood.
But as I began to study this issue more deeply, the more often I began to come across various comparisons of ordinary firewood with a modern solution - fuel briquettes. And I wanted to try it myself.
But after comparison, I cannot make an unambiguous choice.
- Burning duration.
Even comparing in volume and weight, briquettes are clearly denser than the same birch firewood. Accordingly, they will burn longer, and in practice, I was convinced of this.
But here we must not forget about the following ...
- Heat transfer. After all, this is the main thing that we need from fuel. But this indicator is difficult to measure, since there are significant errors.
✔ Manufacturer. After all, all fuel briquettes are divided into different types and shapes.
✔ The composition will depend on this. So, although I bought briquettes made from birch sawdust, I'm not sure that there is 100% what is stated. Everything is on the conscience of production.
✔ Humidity also affects the final result. After all, raw fuel can burn for a long time, but there will be little sense from this.
And here storage conditions are also connected. Both in production and in the store, and as a result in your home ...
✅ Based on this, fuel briquettes are a "pig in a poke".
✅ But ordinary firewood, a more predictable option.
You know exactly what is in the composition, when you prepared them and how you stored them, and you understand what to expect from this.
More global testing is needed to get accurate results.
It is impossible to draw conclusions simply by heating one bookmark of firewood and briquettes.
Now, if you use wood for one year, and briquettes for the other, while recording the temperatures outside and inside, while keeping track of fuel consumption and the amount of money spent, you can get at least some result.
But few people will do this, so those who like to tinker with the preparation choose firewood, and those who consider themselves modern will probably buy fuel briquettes in the store.
And I... I don't know where to go.
