Recommendations from the Internet are certainly useful and informative, but not all. Some of them are just advice within the framework of newfangled trends, which in practice turn out to be completely unviable, inconvenient and impractical solutions. Follow them, and, alas, you cannot avoid new repairs!

And even if you made a serious mistake while renovating and decorating a bedroom or living room, it’s not so bad. But a mistake when decorating a bathroom will cost you a pretty penny! After all, engineering communications are often hidden in the walls, and they are finished with expensive ceramic tiles. And any alteration entails a number of costly steps. Therefore, it is necessary to approach the design of such a space with a cool head - rational and practical, and only then beautiful and aesthetically pleasing.
In general, to to protect you from unnecessary "body movements" associated with the reconstruction of a seemingly new bathroom, I also prepared this material.
Mistake # 1. Use the same tiles for both the floor and the walls. Are you ready to bring constant risk and danger into your life? Then feel free to lay tiles on the floor that are intended for the walls. The fact is that wall and floor tiles are very different in texture from each other: the walls are faced with smooth, and the floor is always rough. And if you do the opposite, then most likely, at the first use of the bathroom, you will slip and, God forbid, you will fall. Which is not good at all!
And also the tile has a different pattern and shape. As a result, it may turn out that the tile that looks great on the walls will look inconspicuous and out of place on the floor.
Mistake # 2. Make a large glass partition. Do you dream of cleaning your bathroom every day? A glass partition is what you need! The idea of dividing the bathroom with glass, which at first glance seems gorgeous, turns out to be a very controversial decision in reality. On the one hand, glass allows you to preserve the volume of the room and its space. And on the other hand, transparent surfaces have to be constantly wiped thoroughly, because limescale is clearly visible on them.
A more practical solution would be a partition with partial frosted glazing at the top. So you zone the room and save yourself from endless cleaning.
Mistake number 3. Hang a stylish little mirror over the sink. If you want to make your bathroom a dark, compressed and uncomfortable space for daily bathing, then go ahead - hang a hand-sized mirror. But keep in mind that a mirror is an integral decorative element of any bathroom, capable of visually expanding the space and making it brighter. What a small mirror is not capable of.
In addition, daily make-up, applying beauty products or shaving (for men) will be a real punishment for you. After all, looking at yourself in a tiny mirror is another event.
Mistake # 4. Decorate with a white, emotionless finish. If you are a supporter of sterile impersonal interiors, then be sure to use this advice and cover the entire bathroom with snow-white tiles. And by no means add any color strokes. I hope this situation will not bore you in two or three months.
But if you think this design is boring and impersonal, then try to diversify the white interior with a small section of the wall, decorated with a complex fashionable color or pattern, colored grout, furniture of a "tasty" shade, graphic restrained lamps ...
Mistake # 5. Bring excessive decor to the room. Want to make your bathroom as uncomfortable and cluttered as possible? Then decorate the room with vases, dried flowers, paintings, as well as candles and souvenirs. All this will deteriorate under the influence of moisture, take up space and, of course, fall to the floor from any careless movement.
Well, but seriously, it is best to turn a bathroom into an interesting stylish room with the help of interior elements and practical, beautiful accessories: an unusual soap dish, a colored glass for toothbrushes and small storage baskets little things, etc.
Mistake # 6. Use bathroom wallpaper. Having pasted wallpaper in the bathroom, you are most likely to get a unique and varied leisure time. For such a non-standard solution will allow you to make regular repairs and change the design of the bathroom every few months. After all, not everyone has those conditions in which the wallpaper will not lose its original appearance and become moldy.
Please note that even moisture-resistant wallpaper requires very good ventilation in the bathroom. But this is not a 100% guarantee that they will last a very long time.
