Many builders have stopped buying fire protection for wood. They found a way to do it themselves and 10 times cheaper.
Everyone knows that during construction, all wooden structures must be processed with special means. After all, wood is afraid of moisture, fire and insects. This also applies to the roofing system of the house, on which it is recommended to apply fire-retardant protection. We do it in order! Which is what we advise you too. But we no longer buy the ready-made mixture, but make it ourselves.
In stores, the choice of fire protection is very large. There is also a concentrate that needs to be diluted, and ready-made mixtures. For every taste, as they say. But the fact is that the fire protection, which is sold in the store, is almost worth its weight in gold.
Look. There is a fire protection canister with a volume of 10 liters. All of it was completely used up for 6 bars of the Mauerlat. The expense is not very economical. If you estimate, then the entire roof will require about 10 such canisters, or even more.
We count. One ten-liter canister of fire-retardant protection costs about 1200 rubles.
This means that you need to spend about 12,000 rubles on the entire roof just for fire protection. Expensive, in my opinion.
It's great that there is such a science as CHEMISTRY, which they taught us well in educational institutions. My foreman once suggested reading the composition and trying to create my own fire protection. And you know, it turned out to be a great idea, thanks to which we have already saved a lot of money.
We studied the composition. It turned out that the tool consists of:
- Boric acid
- Water
- Dye.
And that's all. Boric acid protects against insects and fire! Bingo! This is true. It's not just that they impregnate ecowool with it. And there are no insects in ecowool. Rodents are indifferent to her. And it doesn't burn. At all. Only smolders at high temperatures.
It turned out that we are not the only ones so smart)) There are already recipes for homemade bio-fire protection on the Internet. We have chosen one of them, which we have been using for several years.
How to make fire protection for wood with your own hands?
This will require:
- Boric acid
- Sodium carbonate
- Water
- Color for water paints.
It is recommended to combine substances in the following proportions: 9 liters of water + 1 kilogram of boric acid + 3 kilograms of sodium carbonate. Kohler is added if desired. There is no need for it. But when applying the product to wood, it is more convenient if it is not transparent.
Through trial and error, we have come to the conclusion that 3 kg of sodium carbonate is too much for 9 liters of water. As a result, it was reduced to 1 kg per 9 liters. Such a composition is more convenient to work. You can apply the product with a brush, roller, spray gun - whatever you want. The consumption will be different. And the effect is the same.
How much does homemade bio-fire protection cost?
We purchase 25 kg bags. Boric acid costs about 2,000 rubles, and sodium carbonate about 1,000 rubles. TOTAL: We spend 3000 rubles on the manufacture of 225 liters of home-made fire protection.
The cost of 220 liters of factory fire-biological protection would amount to more than 26,000 rubles. The roof takes about 100 liters. This is 1,500 rubles. Instead of a possible 12,000!
