It turns out that having the right woodpile is an important part of using firewood effectively. Nuances you can't think of.
I did not think that some kind of firewood preparation could contain so many nuances. But since I have installed a stove in my house, I need to study everything ...
Friends, everyone is a huge hello. I haven’t had time to finish building a house and drove into it, and household chores are slowly covering me.
The stove that I recently installed in the house is already in full use. Although it is not very cold yet, I heat it up when I do something around the house, and it is more pleasant to work.
Along with this, my supply of firewood, which had been left behind from the clearing of the site, began to gradually decrease.
Now you still need to think about it ...
For me, my entire construction site is a sea of new information that needs to be studied and applied. And then there's the question of firewood, which also has a lot of nuances.
When I helped my grandmother to chop wood as a child, for me all this was at the level of some kind of new interesting entertainment. But now, I understand that all this is a lot of work.
✔ Amount of firewood.
- Heating the house with wood, this is not a kebab at the weekend to fry, here you will not get by with a couple of logs.
- At the same time, you need to count on the fact that the firewood has time to dry out, for their more efficient use.
✅ Therefore, the stock should always be a couple of winters in advance.
✔ Preparation time.
It turns out in the chopping of firewood, you need to take into account not only the drying time, but also the life cycle of the tree.
- If this is done in the spring, then they can dry out in 4 months.
- If at the end of summer, then it will take almost a year to dry.
- And if you chop it in July, then it will take two and a half months to dry.
At this time, the sap of the tree enters the young branches, and the leaves are more active, and there is very little of it in the trunk itself.
✔ Storage method.
Looking at how people stack firewood, you might think that this is a whole art.
But if we move away from design, then the main thing is to fulfill two conditions - dryness and airing.
In this sense, I wonder how they used to store firewood in the open air, just stacking them correctly. But there were secrets here too:
On the bottom of the woodpile, they laid a box, from moisture, and the top was covered with straw, from precipitation. Everything is simple, but fulfilled its role.
Considering all this, I understand that there is a lot of work to be done ...
After all, the first harvesting of firewood is the largest and most difficult. Yes, and so consciously, everything will be for the first time.
