Thermal insulation of curved slopes: how to mount the EPSP on a bad surface? I show the nuances using my work as an example.
Insulation of window slopes from the inside is used by many craftsmen, and shows its effectiveness well. So in my house the time has come to do this work, and as always, there are some nuances that need to be taken into account.
Friends, a big hello to everyone. In one of the previous articles, I have already explained what exactly is useful for insulating window slopes from the inside of the room.
For more details, see on my channel.
But starting to embody this idea in my home, I came across some points that made me think. But there is always a solution ...
Window sill insulation.
In my opinion, this is the very first place to work with. After all, this is the weakest point of the frame (in terms of freezing) — stand profile.
Although many people put a plastic window sill, and just fill the empty space with foam, I decided to do it differently.
First, insulate the window-sill area with EPS-ohm (a sheet of 500 mm thick came up), and then think with it decoration, which can be made much more interesting, than the usual plastic window sill (wood, tiles, laminate. There are options).
Uneven slopes. This is the next thing to consider in the work.
In theory, after laying the walls and forming the openings, you need to immediately align them and forget. Then EPPS sheets, it would be easier to stick on a flat surface
With large protrusions, I did just that, but I did not touch the defects up to 10 mm and decided to leave them for finishing.
So I had to work with it. Acted as follows:
✔ I cut out a piece of insulation of the required size (I used a thin format of 20 mm).
✔ Applied glue-foam (it is better to use a quick-hardening), and glued to the opening. I did this with approaching the frame, and not at 90 °, but with a slight slope.
As a result, a flat surface was obtained, but with some voids, between the EPS and the wall. I worked with this the very next day.
✔ Drilled a lot of holes in the insulation.
✔ And pumped polyurethane foam there.
The surplus easily came out, and there was no need for additional fastening in the form of some kind of dowels. In this case, the maximum filling of the voids was obtained.
The final result.
Cutting off the foam we get a surface ready for further finishing.
The main thing is that in all work, perfect accuracy is not needed. Even by eye it can be seen that the insulation, in some places, goes in a wave, but at the same time it performs its function. And all the irregularities have already been eliminated during finishing. I plan to do it with plaster, so I think there will be no problems.
