A scientist accidentally discovered a way to create an artificial curvature of space and created the first Alcubierre bubble
Many of you have seen science fiction films in which spaceships used so-called warp engines to move almost instantaneously across the universe. So it turned out that such engines are not pure fantasy, but rather a future reality.
So American scientist, former NASA engineer Harold G. White, made an accidental discovery, which turned out to be the world's first experimental confirmation of the real existence of the so-called warp bubble, also called the Alcubierre bubble.
The first real experiments and its results
Scientist Harold White is working on warp technology, which is being studied by DARPA. So, during the next laboratory test, the engineer managed to make a discovery and observe the appearance of a warp bubble.
So the scientist was studying the Casimir effect for a variety of geometric structures. First of all, this effect is interesting in that it allows some quantum phenomena in the form of mutual attraction of a pair of objects as a result of freely forming and disappearing in a vacuum particles.
The same effect can be observed in the macrocosm, for example, with the appearance and further increase of debris islands in the open ocean.
So, on the instructions of DARPA, the engineer was researching a similar phenomenon for different geometries of object surfaces.
Performing a thorough analysis of one such distribution, the scientist found that the energy distribution turned out to be completely consistent with the calculations of theoretical physicist M. Alcubierre, and this is a direct path to the artificial curvature of space, and therefore to movement at a speed significantly exceeding the speed of light.
The scientist immediately realized that the discovered effect, at least slightly, brought closer the time when warp installations would be used on earth ships for high-speed movement across the expanses of the Universe.
As the author of the study himself stated, during the experiment, a micro / nanoscale structure was discovered that predicts negative energy density distribution that closely matches the metric requirements Alcubierre.
In order to confirm the results of the study, the scientist invites everyone to perform an experiment with a cylinder with a diameter of 4 microns, as well as with a sphere of 1 micron inside it, located in the center.
And an active study of the three-dimensional distribution of energy density inside, as well as near these objects, will either confirm or refute the scientist's discovery.
The scientist shared the results of the work already done on the pages of the European Physical Journal portal.
Well, we are waiting for the results of the experiment from independent researchers and further developments in this direction.
