When we were building, we tried to do everything on our own, saved. At first we wanted to make a warm water floor ourselves. This is the most economical heating option if gas is available. True, there was no gas at first, but there was optimism about what would happen.
The Internet was full of videos with the assurance that underfloor heating is simple, it is easy to make it yourself. However, we felt that in reality there are many nuances, and this is not easy. And they invited an experienced plumber who specializes in private houses. He did well. And now we only rejoice. For 5.5 years now. There are screed and tiles on the floor.
The floor is warm, there are no batteries on the 1st floor. Beauty! More precisely, there is one battery in the corridor, cold, it will turn on only when there is a power outage, since it is connected with gravity heating of the second floor.
Reason 7 times to think # 1 - who is the master?
When we were still thinking about heating, I was told a horror story on the topic: do not make a warm floor. This close relative shared his personal experience. They built a two-story office in Krasnodar. It's much warmer there than here in Kursk. We hired a construction company. They insulated the office “as it should” and made a warm floor “as it should”. No batteries.
As a result, the shoes were toasted under the work table, this time. Then there was a power outage for 3 days after the freezing rain. And this floor warmed up the room for 3 days, worked in outerwear. The temperature outside is only about freezing.
Our floor warms up the room in frosty conditions in 3 hours. Because we insulated everything ourselves.

I learned this story recently. An acquaintance bought a nice house, expensive. With excellent finishes. There were large beautiful custom windows and a warm water floor without batteries. Moreover, the correct warm floor! But!
I had to install batteries with a large number of sections. By the number of windows - a lot of batteries. The reason is single-chamber double-glazed windows! It did not occur to me that in such a luxurious house there could be a solution for the poorest - 2 glasses, otherwise the windows would come out dearly!

We were advised to have a brigade that does a good mechanized screed. We have not cracked anything, all the tiles are intact in place. And for the neighbors of the rich, the screed was made by another team. The tile worth a million rubles cracked and rose. I don’t know what they were doing. This was recounted by the craftsmen who worked in that house in other jobs.
There is also a nuance that in summer the floor is cold, only warm in the heat. Those with small children should take this into account. We have not come up with a better coating material than tiles. Linoleum and laminate are not allowed.
