Facing facades with decorative plaster using stones became popular several years ago. And until now, this finish does not lose its relevance. I found photographs in the archive of how I did such work in the spring. I decided to tell you how to do it and show you the whole process and the result.

Covered the facade with stone chips. I show you how to do it yourself

The good thing about plaster using stone chips is that it is a strong, durable coating that creates an original design, allowing you to make the facade unusual. Stone chips are real stones that are mixed with an adhesive material.

Stone chips can be bought ready-made in the building market, or you can do it yourself. Coarse stone chips are good for finishing the facade, especially for the basement, and small ones for interior work.

You can make the solution yourself. The exact proportions are not very important. They mainly depend on the size of the stone. So much cement is needed to fill the void between the stones. You can also add sand to cement (in the ratio - 1 cement and 2-3 sand).

You should focus on such an amount of the total volume:

  • stone chips - 3 parts
  • cement - 1 part
  • for shine, you can add up to 2% mica.
  • the addition of plasticizers (lime dough, lime, stone flour) is allowed.

We make a solution of stone chips, or use a ready-made mixture. After that, it is necessary to moisten the surface that you plan to veneer and apply cement plaster.

After applying a layer of plaster on top, immediately apply stone chips. It is applied to the surface with a spatula 4-7 mm thick. until an even layer is obtained.

After completing the work with a large soft sponge, we wash off the excess binding components, leaving an aesthetically beautiful plaster with a stone. We do this with effort, as if grinding the surface with a sponge, until the moment everything is washed off.

Important! You can use this finish both indoors and for external facades. The only exception is that it cannot be applied to a metal surface, since possible corrosion.

The final result is like this:

Anticipating questions about cost, I can say that the final price will depend on the internal filler (stone). If you use crushed granite, then the material will come out a little more expensive than ordinary plaster. The work would have cost more. But we do everything with our own hands! Therefore, we save at work.
