Why it is impossible to connect the drain of the washing machine through the cuff (a common reason for flooding neighbors)
Now everyone has an assistant - a washing machine. I have it in the bathroom.
Often there have been cases when the drain hose breaks off and water flows straight to the neighbors. It's good if you have a private house (you won't flood anyone). It's bad when it happens in an apartment building.
How to connect the drain correctly so that there are no problems?
There is 3 ways to connect: through a siphon, plumbing and sewerage. The best is the first way. There is a special siphon on sale for connecting the drain hose. It has a check valve.
If it is not possible to connect to the siphon (the machine is more than 1.5 m from the sink), the connection goes directly to the sewer.
The end of the hose can be fixed on a semicircular plastic holder and thrown over the side of a bathtub or sink (drain into a bathtub or sink). This is more suitable for a temporary solution.
It is better to connect the hose directly to a siphon or sewer. And here lies the mistake of inexperienced plumbers.
The connection goes through a special rubber seal (reduction or otherwise a drain sleeve). It serves to connect a washing machine and dishwasher. The diameter of the collar must be equal to the diameter of the pipe. If it does not fit well into the pipe, then the cuff is heated in hot water and left for 20 minutes.
It so happens that such an organization of the drain becomes a problem.
The plumber comes in, removes the plug from the pipe, inserts the cuff and sticks the hose from the washing machine into it. The drain hose comes out of the cuff at some point.
The thing is that the rubber seal dries up over time, at first unpleasant odors appear. And the water pressure during the drain can cause flooding.
Secure connection
Can be done with check valve. It does not allow sewer odors to pass through. Made of polypropylene, chrome plated. Convenient connection for those whose drain is below the water supply level. Stands within 200-300 rubles. The check valve also serves to prevent wastewater from passing through when the sewage system is clogged.
There is a more reliable and simpler connection. You will need to buy 2 parts: adapter for the sewer pipe (if necessary) and adapter angled or straight for draining.
The connection between the hose and the adapter is tightened with a clamp. The adapter price is more affordable (60-70 rubles).
