What to do with the soil before sowing seeds of tomatoes, peppers

There comes a time when gardeners begin to sow vegetables and flowers for seedlings. In this case, you need to choose the right soil. What trace elements need to be added for the rapid awakening of seeds and the development of seedlings in the soil.

You can, of course, not bother with the soil - just buy a universal soil in a gardening store. But in any case, it must be disinfected. Many gardeners calcinate the soil in the oven, microwave, spill it with boiling water. But it also kills the beneficial microflora.

You can also use a saturated solution of potassium permanganate (6 grams per 10 liters of water) as a disinfectant or freeze the soil by taking the soil outside in the cold (the substrate must be dry).
If you are preparing your land, it is recommended to take it from the greenhouse. The soil in this area is fertile, saturated with humic acids, since every year organic matter and compost are introduced for vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and cucumbers.

However, such a substrate can be used if there was no development of any infection in the greenhouse, for example, phytophthora or other fungal or viral diseases. If you took fertile soil from a greenhouse, then for seedlings the soil needs to be made lighter, looser, and more permeable.

This can be achieved by adding the following materials: vermiculite, coco substrate, perlite, crushed high-moor peat. To deoxidize the soil, dolomite flour is introduced into the ground for seedlings.

Wear a mask when working with perlite. This substance is of volcanic origin, dust can be released when interacting with it. Observe safety precautions. Perlite also has the ability to accumulate water and gradually release moisture to plants.

Preparation of soil substrate for fast and friendly shoots of tomatoes and peppers

Here is an example of a selected substrate for growing seedlings.
For nightshade: vermiculite + perlite + earth + peat in a ratio of 10:10:40:40. When using high-moor peat, dolomite flour must be added. During the period of seedling growth, ash can be omitted, since plants need potassium during the period of the formation of ovaries and the formation of fruits.

Ash can be dusted on the surface of the soil to avoid the development of any infection in the substrate.
