We sow petunias without problems: 2 simple ways of sowing

Petunias are one of the most beloved flowers among gardeners. Therefore, the methods of sowing petunias discussed below will be relevant throughout February and March. Grow flowers with seedlings in flowerpots, flowerpots, wooden boxes, in open ground (flower bed).

Method 1: sowing coated petunia seeds for seedlings

It is better to sow the seeds in the dragee immediately into small (100 ml) disposable cups with drainage holes made at the bottom of the container.
The soil is better to use store-bought, light, neutral in acidity and moisture permeable. Suitable for general purpose soil.

Next, you should fill the plastic cups with soil, tamping it a little in the container. For sowing, it is convenient to use a wooden toothpick, the tip of which must be moistened with water and transfer the seed to the center of the cup, pressing it into the ground a little. After sowing, the soil surface should be sprayed with a spray bottle. The shells of the seed should be soaked due to moisture.

Next, the cups with soil and seeds must be placed in a mini-greenhouse (plastic container) to create a favorable climate for seed germination. Then it is necessary to sign the variety and date of sowing on a piece of paper and stick it with tape to the container.

The container with cups should be placed in a warm (with a temperature of +23 to +28 degrees) and a bright place for rapid germination. After germination, the temperature should be reduced to + 18- + 20 degrees to avoid pulling seedlings.

It is necessary to ventilate the seedlings every day, gradually opening the lid so that there is a small gap.

Petunia can be sown from the beginning of February to the end of March.

After the plants grow up, it is necessary to make a transshipment in a larger container or immediately to a permanent place in flowerpots.

2 sowing method: small seeds (non-coated)

If you purchased uncoated small seeds in a bag, then you can use the following method. To do this, you need to take a small container with a lid and pour soil into it, which should be slightly compacted from above.

Using a simple wooden ruler, make grooves, the distance between them should be 2-3 cm apart. Each groove should be poured with hot water. Then distribute the seeds in bulk along the grooves.

You can also sow coated seeds in this way, you just need to keep a distance of 2-3 cm between them.
You can also sow coated seeds in this way, you just need to keep a distance of 2-3 cm between them.

This can be done using a sheet of paper folded into two halves, where the seed is poured (at the fold). After sowing, spray the seeds with a spray bottle. You need to cover the container with a lid and sign the variety name and sowing date on a piece of paper, which then needs to be glued to the container with adhesive tape.

The container must be placed in a warm and bright place. In February, additional lighting is usually required. Care consists in maintaining humidity and airing seedlings. When the petunia grows up, the seedlings must be swooped down in separate cups.
