A threaded polypropylene fitting can be made by hand, and for this it is not necessary to buy parts in a store. A flexible hose, which is no longer suitable for its intended purpose, is quite suitable as a raw material. As you can see, it has worn out a lot with time and leaked, and additional resources will be needed to bring it to life. It is much more profitable to disassemble the hose for spare parts and make devices that will serve you well in the future.

How can a flexible hose help make a PP fitting?

From a flexible eyeliner, we need a nut with an internal thread. Accordingly, our coupling will also have such a thread.

As a base, prepare a polypropylene pipe 32 mm in diameter.

Since the nut will be soldered into the PP, for high-quality and convenient manufacturing of the fitting, we will screw it onto the rim before heating.

Now solder the nut into the pipe. Note that it needs to be deepened by 15-20 mm, it does not need to be flush with the pipe cut. As soon as the soldering process is completed, and the nut is firmly fixed, we get a blank for the coupling. Looking into its clearance, you will notice that the diameter of the nut is much smaller than the diameter of the pipe, which means that you should not be afraid that polypropylene would melt the thread.

For more reliable fastening of the nut, we heat the edge of the pipe so that the liquid PP fills all the voids. Until the workpiece has hardened, we wind any part with a suitable thread onto the fitting.

The next step: we clean the edges of the coupling to make them neat in appearance. For this, a sharp knife will do, with its help we process the cut, removing the melted polypropylene in the form of a rim.

As a result, we got a high-quality fitting, convenient and useful for installation. It is immediately clear that the nut will not even budge, no matter how much water pressure it has to withstand.

We make the transition to a pipe of a smaller diameter

The coupling is ready for further work, and now we will try to apply it, making the transition from one pipe to the next. Heating up both polypropylene parts,

we connect them with each other, trying to make the design neat and have an impeccable appearance.

If you strive for perfection, then the same clerical knife will help you, quickly removing all the influxes. In the same way, you can make the transition to a thinner PP pipe 20 mm in diameter.
