Useful gardening tips: how to grow luxurious peonies

In order for peonies to bloom luxuriously, you need to take care of them from early spring to late autumn. It is important to correctly observe agricultural technology, in what place, at what time to plant.

Landing time

It is best to plant young peonies in autumn (September-October). I noticed that in the spring these flowers do not take root well, because they do not have time to build up a sufficient root mass from the high air temperatures that may already be in May.

How to prepare a hole for planting

A place for peonies should be chosen sunny, without flooding during early spring, otherwise the roots will begin to rot. The distance between plants should be more than 1 m.

The depth and diameter of the pit should be 50 to 50. The following mixture should be added to the prepared place for peonies: fertile soil from the garden, rotted manure or compost in the amount of 1-2 buckets, ash 1 cup, superphosphate and dolomite flour at the rate of packaging. The hole needs to be filled one third. Then add garden soil or sand (if the soil is heavy). Mix everything with a shovel.

A delenka (seedling) cannot be planted deep, it is important that the buds are not lower than 3-5 cm of the ground level, taking into account that the soil will still settle, and the buds will be almost flush with the ground surface. After planting, the plant needs to be watered.

What to feed in spring

In order for peonies to bloom luxuriously in summer, you need to feed them after the snow melts. During this period, the plant needs nitrogen and potassium. But the first one needs to be careful. Otherwise, it will provoke the rapid development of green mass. Therefore, in the spring it is enough to pour a glass of ash under a bush and a little humus.

The second feeding is carried out during the formation of small buds. You can use complex fertilizer NPK in the amount of 1-2 tbsp. spoons on a bush, scattering around the plant.

What to feed in the summer after flowering

2 weeks after flowering (after about July 20), you need to feed the peonies again with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. For example, use ash or borofoska.

As you can see, minimal care will lead to luxurious peony blooms.
