Has the mounting foam dried up in the gun? No problem
Those who are waiting for this article to focus on military weapons can not waste time in vain. We will talk about a mounting gun for foaming openings and slots. Many craftsmen - builders and finishers were faced with a situation where, for some reason, they did not clean the gun right away, and it dried up. If the gun is cheap, it doesn't seem to be a pity. And if several thousand rubles were paid for it, and at the same time they used it 2-3 times, then it’s a shame, and the master’s greatest desire is to return the instrument to service. Consider several ways to flush the mounting gun.
The method is classic, but not economical
Of course, if you don’t feel sorry for the money, you can buy a tool for flushing mounting guns. True, this tool costs 200–260 rubles and is enough for two or three times. The tool is a conventional container that is put on the gun, its detergent is passed through the nozzle and out of the tube, washing the valves and the trigger.
Making a simple tool
This tool is so easy to make that even if it breaks, you don't mind throwing it away. It will require a 20 mm syringe and an empty foam bottle.
First, its top is cut off from the balloon, but not just under the neck, but a little, about 1-2 cm. below.
The inside of the neck is cleaned of the remnants of the foam. If necessary, it can be washed with a solvent. Then the neck must be released from the valve. To do this, insert a nail or wire into the valve hole, which enters tightly and knock the valve inward.
From the inside, it is necessary to break off the wide part of the valve with pliers so that the cork remains in the neck.
Now a 20 ml syringe is taken. The nozzle of the syringe fits snugly into the valve, is quite voluminous and therefore ideal for work. So, insert the syringe into the valve and the junction must be glued so that the tool serves for a long time and reliably. For these purposes, epoxy, hot melt adhesive, and the same "Moment" are suitable. Everything. The tool is ready to go. True, if glued with epoxy glue, you will need to leave it to dry.
To flush the gun, the syringe is filled with 646 solvent, or acetone. Two syringe fills are usually sufficient for flushing.
So, by pushing the solvent through the trigger of the gun, you can free it from the remaining foam. The gun will always be clean and will last a long time.
To prevent the solvent from eating through the syringe, at the end of work, it is recommended to rinse the tool with running water.
An exotic but effective way to flush a gun
I called this method exotic, because a tool is used to flush the mounting gun, which is completely not intended for dissolving dried foam. This is Dimexide. Yes, yes, the same Dimexide, which is a medicine, and it is sold in pharmacies.
A few drops of Dimexide should be dripped into the hole through which the foam exits the cylinder and enters the gun. Leave the gun for 15-20 minutes for Dimexide to work with the dried foam. After this time, put the cylinder on the gun and check it. If the foam does not go, repeat the procedure. If foam comes out, flush the gun and you are good to go.
