MEGA soot remover for fireplace and stove glass: free, effective, natural
You bought a wood-burning stove or fireplace with a glass door. We expected that you would warm yourself, watching the flames play in the furnace - romance. In fact, the door was quickly covered with a layer of soot, and the room smelled of burning. If a reliable layer of soot has formed, it will not be possible to wash it with the usual kitchen means. I'll tell you how to solve this problem in 5 minutes.
In general, glass should not be covered with soot. How to avoid this, we will also discuss.
Special cleaners for fireplace glass
They produce a lot of specialized tools. They are usually referred to as “Fireplace Cleaner” or “Fireplace Glass Cleaner”. Prices for them are from 100 to 1000 rubles.
The cost of such funds is far from an indicator of effectiveness. It's just that in an ordinary supermarket or hardware store, such products are not in demand, so not all of them are imported. And in specialized stores that deal with stoves, fireplaces and heating in general - this is a consumable - you can make a higher markup.
In my opinion, with the cleaning of soot from fireplace glasses, any, even the cheapest, tool will do just fine. Otherwise, we overpay for marketing and some additional options: fragrance, antistatic agent, rinse aid, etc.
If you look at the composition, we will see that these are alkaline products. And we always have lye at hand, so buying something in the store is not necessary.
"Grandma's" fireplace glass cleaner is the most affordable
If you have a stove or a fireplace, then you burn firewood there, so the ash is always at hand. This is the most free, effective and natural remedy. The ash contains a lot of potassium oxide. When interacting with water, it turns into alkali - KOH. So we get the alkaline composition, as in the product from the store.
We take an ordinary dishwashing sponge, moisten it in water, add a little ash and rub the glass of the stove or fireplace with this composition. Then wipe with a damp cloth and you're done.
Our grandmothers also used this tool. True, I don’t remember that they had ovens with glass doors. But I still found cleaning pots and pans with soot.
What to do so that there is no soot on the glass of the furnace
On good, the glass should always remain clean. A sooty surface indicates improper operation of the stove or fireplace. Most often this happens for two reasons:
- Small traction. The first thing that comes to mind is a clogged chimney. But in fact, people themselves provoke this problem by closing the top gate (or view - call it what you want). When the stove is lit, the gate is always fully opened! The draft is regulated by the “blowing” door.
- Raw firewood. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to properly dry firewood. And raw logs begin to smoke. I would advise first of all to solve the problem with firewood.
As you can see, soot on stove or fireplace glass is easy to avoid. And if it does appear, it can be easily cleaned. And without any chemicals - free, effective and safe.
